A question for the Cult of Orange

Recommended Posts

I think copper and orange might be too similar, homie. A good copper color will be pretty close to an earthy orange so you might have contrast issues. Of course, if you've got something else to offset it maybe that's what you're going for.

Some of the bronze recipes I've tried are more coppery, mostly based on the wash. When I wash gold trim with red mixed into the wash it gives it a nice reddish tone. I've just noticed a bunch of copper stuff popping up at places like Target, and they've got a really bright finish. We're you looking for something that bright or more weathered?

Not sure if mine technically counts as orange but I do use vallejo model color ochre brown (which as I understand it is a color match for the heavy ochre) to get an orangey color to my shoulder pad inserts.

-Basecoat tausept ochre (or VMC ochre brown, or VGC heavy ochre)
-Apply vallejo model wash (VMW) rust all over then dab away excess with paper towel to kind of
tint the surface
-Apply VMW rust to start defining the shadows
-Line 1:1 VMW dark brown:water
-Line in deepest recesses VMW dark brown
-Lightly wash again with VMW rust all over to tie things together

Many thanks. I believe I'll do some testing with that.
