Iron Priest

The problem is an Iron Priest is just 1 Wound, even the standard Thunderwolf Cavalry have two wounds. A single good precision shot or an unlucky roll and a very expensive model suddenly bites the dust. Iron Priests just aren't nearly as effective as they should be, they really need to be Independant Characters and have at least two wounds. Until then my Iron Priests generally only see use in Apocalypse games and always kept as minimalistic as possible.

So the simple answer is no, I wouldn't run that build, it's just not tough enough or effective enough for the points investment.

I run an all wolf army (Canis, 6 units of wolves, 3 units of TWC, 3 mounted HQs), but once i go over 2500 points i start filling in with Iron Priests and 4 cyberwolf units, just for completeness.

with 9 units of fast death on the table already, three more smaller units do not become an target issue; less than that though, i would not bother running them.

... or did you want one with the Iron Priests, because really don't need them; at 200 points with the 4 cyberwolves, all i have to do is cut back on some wolves or drop a lord (usually Strong... I usually have enough Thunderhammers, and he's kind of cliche.)

every game i'm on them turn 2 (except one where the necron player started 3" away from his table edge; i was on him turn 4); there's so much brutality on the table people just don't expect.

if i know i'm gonna deal with fliers, i occasionally borrow an Aegis Defense line and man it with Lone Wolves; target fliers first, then start shooting MC & Walkers & Toughness 5 things.  When a Lone Wolf dies, I get a Victory Point and the next one mans the gun.  cheap, cheesy, easy....  just like fliers.

it's fun, for me at least.  people don't see it coming or know how to deal with it.

I enjoyed modeling a Iron Priest on wolf, but I also don't use him often. Like the Rose Princes, I also have a Thunderwolf heavy list. I mix drop podding terminators with Logan into mine, actually it's the other way around...

I keep him (Iron Priest) stock, and points permitting, he gets between 1 and 4 cyber wolves.

End of Line
