Do Dark Angels/Successor Chapters Command Squad Need Robes?

Recommended Posts

Title pretty much sums it up. Bought some marines off of eBay that I want to convert to a command squad for my army, but they don't have robes and I don't want to spend a lot of time/money to add something that is purely aesthetic in nature. I obviously would actually make them look like dark angels (or guardians of the covenant in my case) but I just don't want to green stuff/upgrade sprue robes onto them as they were preassembled when I bought them. Would you be unhappy/confused if a DA players command squad didn't have robes? Would you even care?

As long as their clearly modelled as a Command Squad, nobody in their right mind will give a :cuss about robes. As you said, it's purely an aesthetic choice, with has no in-game effect.

Cheers,

Jono

What Jono said.

Robes are primarily an aesthetic choice. You like them, you use them. If you don't, don't. biggrin.png

EDIT: I did an entire Consecrators force with virtually no robes - it was fun and a bit unique. But Emperor knows I'm going heavy on robes in my next Unforgiven project!

Ok all thank you for the responses!

@averykess -- they'll definitely have the right equipment shown, that isn't aesthetic ;)

@grotsmasha -- yeah it really has No bearing on the game which is why I don't care really.

@RuggedJam -- that's what I was planning on doing actually. Also, what is "goc?" "Geeks on Call?"

@Captain Semper -- that's pretty cool man, I will definitely be checking that out.

Yeah so forget robes is the general consensus it seems. That's good because I didn't want to spend a lot of time on it and have someone tell me "oh that's not official go home." I suppose someone could still do that. If eh do I could dread sock them :D

Considering Lionel Johnson wrote the poem Dark Angel about the dark side of hiding sin and seeking redemption, it is in his honor to keep the dresses. :)

Yea the robes are for looks just like any other piece of uniform option really. It's the gear that counts.

++no offense was intended with the above mentioned historical fact++

@Seleucus -- that's interesting. I mean you would think they would take them off sometime :P thanks for the info!

@RuggedJam -- wow massive brain fart haha. Of course,,, do they all tend to wear robes? I'm now they're very very monastic but I hadn't heard that. Whatever though I most likely won't do robes on the Command Squad. Just vets and important people

@200Plus -- haha! No offense taken that made me smile. As said previously, yeah they will all have the correct warhead so no worries :)

From a tactical point of view, the dresses are a bad idea. Trip hazard, snagging on barbed wire, getting caught in Rhino doors, and so much more. Don't forget too that the stains you pick up in the field are a nightmare to shift. Blood, mud, oil! Ain't nobody got time for that.

Now...if your talking about a night out. That's different. Just don't forget to accessorize properly.
