FT Knox is empty sorry Brother.

Only according to the same conspiracies that say there is intelligent life serving in our government.
Not really. It's been slowly getting more and more empty since the 70's when the US went off of the gold standard and started printing money that wasn't backed by gold.

Although, getting empty is different from being empty.......

...Sicaran's, breacher siege marines with shields, rad weapons, phosphex, fellblades, land raider squadrons, spartans, all-terminator lists that don't wear skirts, john woo style dual-pistol wielding consuls, power armoured scouts, power scythes on tactical sergeants...

Are we listing for fun or just as an excuse to advertise 30k more because of how many new units we can field that are just that bit different as to create a different atmosphere?

Just an excuse some feel they have Throw a jibe at 40k ,Some of us still like the back ground and since some one wrote some screwy rules they think its going to die. The hobby is bigger than us and let others enjoy it.

So I will get off my soap box and finish writig my heresy list and put the final details on my Hammers of Dorn Sternguard mock up.

Some may know that today (well, yesterday UK time), I ordered my first FW item. A Contemptor for my Rainbow Warriors. Depending on how I get on with building it etc, I may (and I stress the word) get a few models alá 30k. My main problem is that no one within the local gaming circle play that I know of, so I think that they'll be more "centre pieces" than gaming items (cost is another issue, I'm not complaining, as I love the models, but still...) for now.

I also can't decide which Legion to go for. I'm torn between Iron Hands, Night Lords and Ultramarines at the moment (two being "Parent" Legions to two of my 40k armies, the other being a Legion that I've grown interested in through many of the posters in this and other topics). The decision would be made for me if it was known which fething Founding the Rainbows are (as in, if they were Second, I'd do something similar to the Flesh Tearers and create something that sees them start to develop into the Chapter they are "today"). I'll just have to see how well the Chuck turns out smile.png (I've ordered two regular arms and a 'Beamer for him and intend to magnetise them, another first! happy.png )

In any case, I can't say that I'm part of the crew, but I'd be okay with being called an interested passenger... msn-wink.gif

I think that I might actually get around to one of my oldest "want to do, but no time and no money" projects - a Model for each of the 18 Legions (with two "blank" models for II and XI) using 30k style models. It would take me a fair amount of time to do, but at least that way my head won't explode from the indecision! laugh.png

Do it, brother.

This is one of things that makes me glad I am here for the fluff, not the models or the game. If I had to choose just one Legion, or even a pair of allies . . . Could not do it.

Not to mention having all those DIYs.

Yeah it's not truly dead, but some of us are taking a "break" due either to players at our local GW, wonky rules, wonk-ier new retcon'd background, or insert problem here.

And while I'd like to start up my flesh tearer army again, 6th nerfed them into the ground. I'd like to transition my tau from 5th to 6th, but people will think I'm a WAAC player. I want to start an Eldar army but they have the same issue as tau. So I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place.

I'll let sleeping dogs lie and just weather the storm till things pan out or we just get used to it. I wish my hobby center came back, even though the only people we really got were newbies or all out guys. Oh well.

I'll just stay here for now and enjoy 30k and work on my painting, modeling, and lore skills for now and have a hell of a time doing it :D

Spectemur Agendo!!! For the Lion and Caliban!

I too am thinking of venturing into 30k slowly. Based on reading this thread alone you guys kind of got me sold...just wish it was not so dang expensive!

If cash is your problem, this game really isn't going to be your cup of tea/coffee. its ALL expencive. now, if you would rather paint and play with classic green army men, a man has to do what a man has to do to get his kicks. Seriously though, think it over, it is pricy and addictive.

If you go off a gold standard your gold reserves go up, because you can't withdraw gold for dollars...

I hope you take it as a "good natured poking fun between friends," instead of an out and out mocking.

I think many folks are just having trouble adjusting still. I found the exact same thing in Fantasy happening when the new books for 8th edition rolled around. People that had been playing Ogre Kingdoms or Warriors of Chaos for years were upset that they were getting mocked for playing the "bandwagon" race at the time, since they were the most powerful army books. Now they've really mellowed out and the army books have gradually shifted away from one or two specific lists per book.

I don't think there is anything inherently wrong with 40k. I just consider it like rooting for a favorite sports team. You loudly proclaim all your own awesome bits, while downplaying the flaws and giving the other guys a hard time for theirs. Or maybe more like a favorite sport in this case.

It's just that my team will flay your face off and eat it if you fumble happy.png

I know it is expensive and I have a ton of models as it is. Just to start a Legion fresh is going to cost me quite a bit, and it has taken me a bit to collect the other armies I have. But definitely will be saving my pennies slowly… bills and responsibilities, why you ruining my days!

Thanks flint :D

It's like my favorite and home team, the cubs, became the Yankees/Red Sox overnight. They suddenly bought all the best players and were unstoppable. If you had any good players on your team, they just bought me out and said sorry, we don't like the fact that you can play fairly against us.

I don't have any problems with true Red Sox or Yankee fans that have been there from the start or live there, but I absolutely cannot stand fair weather fans. I never want to be seen as one either.

Back before 6th Tau, I actually won more than I lost (only lost twice, both against IG, I won something like a dozen games) and it was funny because this 15 year old kid I played against said, "hah! You play Tau? It's ok buddy, but they'll never win." Which I promptly rotfl stomped his Nid army, even though he would cheat, I still beat him at the end.

Now it's waiting until a new gaming store opens up near me and staying away from the power units. I actually liked the challenge of playing with an underdog army, because it would show that I'm a better tactician (and a favored son of the dice gods).

But hey someday I'll take you up on that face flaying, because my Dark Angels will slay your fools with nothing but contempt. Night Lord players have no honor "Nath sihll shah, vor'vorran kalshiel" ;)

Depthcharge, I'm going to play you some day, but my army will get an extra FOC slot for the Designated Hitter. msn-wink.gif
