The fate of Loken

Now I was thinking what the likelihood of lokens demise would be.

I have a theory and it is solid IMO.

Loken and Lucius had there duel causing Lucius to ruin his perfect face, we know Lucius falls and gains the ability to reincarnate.

I feel it would be suitably grimdark and a decent retcon if loken killed him and became Lucius himself.

Thoughts???

I think a third round between Loken and Lucius would be utter waste, no matter the outcome. What we have now is really cool - first Loken wins by "cheating" and then Lucius utterly trounces him in the rematch that gets played as a proper duel. Loken needs to end his arc facing someone of his former Legion.

As long as he doesn't take the place of Mr. Pius/Generic Imperial Fist/Custodian guard in the climax of Heresy, that is.

Seems suitable to me. Lucius' ability is that the person who slays him and feels satisfaction, becomes him. Considering Lucius is supposed to be among the best swordsman (I said supposed to be), these slayers should be heroes. Named people, famed warriors. I don't know, it's certainly possible. I don't think I'd mind it. Loken should be dead already anyways. At this point, how his death actually comes doesn't mean much, because it's already too little, too late.

Isn't it pretty established that Loken never was dead (in editorial sense, naturally he wasn't dead in the storyline) and people just assumed he was cause the ending of Galaxy in Flames was a bit overwritten instead of suitably vague? At least to me it never was conclusive on any level whatsoever and I was quite amazed when I joined these forums and the Is He Dead Or Not debate was going on in full force...

I think that would be cool but unlikely. I agree it should be fitting for Loken to face his fate facing someone from the Sons of Horus, maybe Loken will fight Lil Horus and kill Lil Horus but die from his wounds from his fight, making Abaddon the last surviving member of the mournival but I kind of wish Loken would have stayed dead in the first place. For some reason Loken reminds me of most movie remakes(The movie doesn't need to be remade, the original version is good) But I am getting off topic, my bad!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't he say something like: You can't be him. I watched my wayward brother die.

Which is ambigious as it could be mean "I watched him die from the wound(s) I gave him" or it could just mean "I watched someone else kill him".

Lucius had already been killed after duel with Loken by Raven Guard Marine. And not the coolest fighter,  he cut  Lucius to pieces and he is not reborn because the raven was spit on him.

It's unlikely to happen, but I like the idea - it'd be appropriate and tragic. (Unfortunately, the fact that SHARROWKYN the SHARROWY NINJA who was KYN TO SHARROWS could kill Lucius without becoming him kind of robs the idea of something.)

Lucius didn't have that ability at that point when sharrowkyn killed him.

Which is kind of dumb, because the lore always said that it was the first guy to kill Lucius that became him.

third?

where was this second round?

i actually think loken wouldnt take satisfaction over killing lucius, only prideful warriors are likely to... loken has never been prideful.

Exactly.  That is just one of the reasons i think Loken's fate has not yet played out.  I think he is /Still/ Alive in the current time in 40k. And will at some time in the future, have his tie breaking fight with Lucius, and kill him for good.

When Loken was asked how long do the Astartes live?  His answer was we don't know.  I think he will learn the answer to that question the hard way.

When Loken joins the Mournival., he tries to picture his own death.  He has trouble with this and instead is able to picture some near deaths.  He also considers a time 10,000 years in the future.  I think this is a hint that he will see this time with his own eyes.

In Legion of one, as a stark raving lunatic, he says the "Peace of the grave will only be mine when the scales are balanced."  How can he be even Steven with Abaddon still alive? He also calls himself the "un-dying".
