JJD
I am building my first vehicle a land raider crusader. I decided to paint the interior prior to building the model. This was going well until it came to the front hatch. Whilst building the sides on I broke the mechanism the works the front door. Since I have gone to the trouble of painting the inside I still want the door to open. I am thinking some simple magnets but having never done this before I could use some advice. Any suggestions would be appreciated Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/287338-help-with-my-land-raider/ Share on other sites
RazorDaemon
Similar thing happened to me, unfortunately I haven't finished the repairs. I have finished placing the magnets, and they do hold the door shut nicely, I just need to stop putting it off and finishing mending the broken hinge/mechanism. For the magnets, I used a hand drill to drill just deep enough for the magnet to be flush with the surrounding surface, and used some contour putty (more liquidy than green stuff, better for fill-ins) around it to have everything nice and smooth and unnoticeable. Painting over the magnets will not impede them. Most hobby shops will have a hand drill, if they don't carry the magnets there are plenty of sites to order them, even ebay. I believe the Citadel drill comes with a 1mm bit, but whatever drill you get make sure to check the bit size so you can buy the right size magnets. JJD
Thanks for the replays all. I will go check on the size of my hand drill bit and buy some magnets to fit Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/287338-help-with-my-land-raider/#findComment-3605497 Share on other sites
