Zyth23
Hi Members of the Ordo Malleus. I need your help. As a Black Templars player, I played a lot against a friend who play GK, but I still not know what I definitly should avoid to do and what I definitly should do to survive against a GK army. His list are mostly random, he got few Jokearo because they are expensive to buy as models, a lot of Termis / Paladin / Standard troops / Psycannon circus / Heavy Incinerators support squad. I know that in CC, with SM it's useless except with Iron Hands - Clan Raukaan: Chapter Master, kitted as Smash:cusser. During my last game, I played 1'500pts of Iron Hands Biker and ~500pts of Dreadnoughts including 2 Iron Clads and 2 Lazer-Missile Dread. Only 1 bike, my Chapter Master and 3 assaut bikes survived. (I had 33 bikes, but I made the mistake to rush in CC at turn 2) I killed his two DreadKnights, one solo-paladin (aka Solodin), one StormRaven and 3 Wounds to Keldor Drago. I know that in Necrons, with Wraith and Scarabs, it's possible to crush a GK list really easily, but I'd like to not loose too much as Space Marines. (If possible, without Psyker help due to my Templar Status.) Cordially, Zyth. Reclusiarch Darius
As a Black Templars player, I played a lot against a friend who play GK, but I still not know what I definitly should avoid to do and what I definitly should do to survive against a GK army. Codex Marines have a bad time against us. I'd suggest loading up on plasma, grav and long-range firepower like lascannons. Knights do most of their work at mid-range and in melee. If you can outrange him, you've got a significant early advantage. I know that in CC, with SM it's useless except with Iron Hands - Clan Raukaan: Chapter Master, kitted as Smash:cusser. Not entirely. You still have Stormhammers, which even with the point increase are still the best close-combat squad in the game. Assault Marines are also good at murdering Henchmen and Strikes. Only 1 bike, my Chapter Master and 3 assaut bikes survived. (I had 33 bikes, but I made the mistake to rush in CC at turn 2) Why would you ever assault Knights with a Biker list? You have almost no power weapons, whereas every Knight model ignores your armour save by default and can boost themselves to S5 to counteract your T5. Just stay at 24" and whittle them down with firepower, you're quite hard to kill with storm bolters. Gentlemanloser
Even with Stormhammers, I'd say avoid CC with the Grey Knights. Shoot us to death with Plasma and Grav. Plasma Cannons, and Grav Bikes really. Don't Deep Strike when facing us. That's asking for tears. ;) And plan to not be able to Infiltrate or Scout. Which can cause issues if you deploy Bikes planning to Scout them, and find out you can't.
