Castrmen Orth
hi guys,i was debating dipping my toe into the 30k scene as i have been admiring the minis for soo long now. couple of quick questions, are the books worth the 70 quid or so, they look it from what i have seen as i devour nything heresy related. secondly, are there multiple different builds for a IH army? i was told that our main set u was a tank heavy force, is footslogging or all termy possible as well? Moonstalker
I think the books are worth it, but I also wouldn't sneer at anyone who didn't have the cash to lay out for them and had to resort to acquiring them through other means. They are pretty expensive. Still, they're good reads and necessary if you want to play. As for IH, I think they might be one of the more competitive and varied armies. They have both the ability to give their vehicles IWND and their infantry are very resilient vs shooting. All footslogging and all terminator are both entirely possible. If you're playing straight 30k, fighting vs other 30k forces, don't ever feel like you're stuck in a situation where only one build is viable. Compared to 40k codexes, 30k might be a little underpowered, but against itself, legion vs legion, it's quite well balanced and there are many possible builds. Noserenda
The books blow anything gw has ever made out Of the water, only upstaged by the Warhammer forge ones tbh. :) And yes the list is the most flexible one ive ever played with :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/287523-ih-hh-army/#findComment-3608796 Share on other sites
depthcharge12
Even if you don't wind up playing 30k I would still recommend the books, especially if you've been eating up all the fluff! The books are really well written, honestly they are ten times better than any codex you will ever read. They contain fluff for each legion in the book, history of the battle going on, and even shortish stories that happen during the battle. Each legion section has pictures of marines in various schemes to stimulate your modeling potential. IHs are just like any other HH force! you can honestly do whatever *you* feel like. All terminator army? Yup, you can do it. Land raiders as dedicated transports? Yup. Though I would say that their rite of war is fantastic. So far they also have some of the most competitive builds out there so far. Every marine gets -1S to incoming shooting attacks, which is phenomenal. Plus, if you decide to take a command squad, you can give them cataphractii armor and cyber familiars so that they have a 2+/3++ and you can still choose whatever weapons you want with them :) Do it. I dare you. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/287523-ih-hh-army/#findComment-3608907 Share on other sites
Castrmen Orth
that sounds fantastic, is ferrus suitably epic? i have a friend who does EC and we've stated before that a combined force ala great crusade era would compliment each other perfectly Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/287523-ih-hh-army/#findComment-3609174 Share on other sites
Memento Of Prospero
Suitable Epic? He is THE Primarch by which other Primarch are judged upon. Fulgrim will look like a second edition Ogryn next to him. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/287523-ih-hh-army/#findComment-3609182 Share on other sites

depthcharge12
Ferrus and Vulkan are probably the 2 biggest beatstick primarchs right now Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/287523-ih-hh-army/#findComment-3609333 Share on other sites
Iron Father Ferrum
My question about Ferrus -- specifically, his FW rules -- is why is Forgebreaker a Strength x2 weapon, when the other "big beatstick" weapons so far profiled (Horus' Worldbreaker and Vulkan's Dawnbringer) are both a flat Strength 10? It's all the same since you can't take a stat above 10... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/287523-ih-hh-army/#findComment-3609398 Share on other sites
