Rune Priest Ridcully
I was wondering if anyone had tried it, as me and a my mate prefer them over the new ones, and I was thinking it could be a very good way of portraying smaller actions in the heresy, especially post isstvann actions undertaken by the shattered legions, as you could have a small band of loyalists trying to strike at a critical ammo dump or gene seed repository of the traitors. infyrana
Would be a great way to use HH rules/units - this has been mentioned before. But, check out the points cost of the units, due to their starting size, the options are extremely limited depending on the points you run at. Rune Priest Ridcully
You don't need to have units at their base size for it, albeit it gives the enemy extra brutes. Emperors Teeth
Even if you use the stock rules, it can be done. You're not forced to take a Troops Choice, You can use Elites or Fast Attack which open up your choices vastly. It's interesting to use the Legion rules, too. For example, Salamanders still get their flamer bonus', Iron Hands cannot use jetbikes in a force this small, and Night Lords can take a small but well equipped Terror squad Don't forget the specialist rules, too. Here's some example lists:Legiones Astartes:List 1Recon squad (5 men) + 2 Sniper Rifles, 5 CameleolineRapier Weapons Battery with Heavy BoltersTotal = 200List 2Skyhunter unit (4 men) + 1 multimelta, 4 meltabombsTotal = 200Mechanicus:List 1Enginseer unit +1 Enginseer- Servo-automata + Rotor Cannon- Servo-automata + Heavy Bolter- Servo-automata + Multimelta- Servo-automata + Servo ArmTech-thrall Adsecularis [10 men]Tech-thrall Adsecularis [10 men]Total = 200List 24 Thallax* + 1 Photon ThrusterTotal = 200*before anyone jumps on me... the Kill Team rules state you can't take anything with more than 3 wounds. Hyaenidae
Support squads also. A whole squad rocking volkite calivers would be disturbingly fun. Heresy era attack bikes can also rock an autocannon, which could seriously ruin someone's day. Adra'Melek
Just played a couple of kill team games. The first was Night Lord Terror Squad against World Bearer CSM (tactical with a few bikes). I made a couple of mistakes, took a flamer (waste) and no volkites (higher strength and 2 shots). Plasma/Melta gun with ignore cover specialist is a killer for marines. Second game was an Infernal Legion (aka Salamanders) Seeker squad against 5 raptors and 10 cultists. I was very unlikely with saving throws but they did pretty well. High BS and special ammo was pretty good. I lost because the game ended 5th turn, if it had gone another I probably would have won. Pretty good but very few models when playing against 40k Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/287525-4th-ed-kill-team-with-heresy-lists/#findComment-3610188 Share on other sites
