tjdudey
Having been playing for about 6 weeks now, I played a 3000pt match vs Necrons this weekend. On a side note, It was a resounding wolf victory. However, this post is to declare how amazing I found Logan Grimnar to play with. His 5 attacks, split between frost blade and power fist, make mincemeat of anything that comes near. If the enemy you are fighting with has no ap2 attacks, lose the initiative and hit back with 5 strength 8 attacks...LOL I will certainly be using him again. Let me know your preferred way of running him. I had him with 8 grey hunters in a drop pod. Rune Priest Jbickb
I often pod him down with wolf guard. If I can get him near another pod of grey hunters I often run him over to them on turn 2. He is pretty beast in challenges, the only one he has lost was typhus (or whoever that nurgle guy is) and there was some unlucky dice on my part. Hopefully in the new Dex his points will come down a bit and he will get an extra wound to bring him in lin with other chapter madtters, but I love playing him even at his current cost Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/287539-the-magnificaent-logan-grimnar/#findComment-3609271 Share on other sites
Eternal Warrior
Don't the new axe rules mean he should just be using it as a power fist all of the time? Please enlighten me! Good job on bashing the tinfoil space zombies. tjdudey
Don't the new axe rules mean he should just be using it as a power fist all of the time? Please enlighten me! Good job on bashing the tinfoil space zombies. Yes, I would like enlightening as well. I am quite new and some of the rules are mindboggling. Anyway, I would happily use his axe as a powerfist all the time anyway, it squishes almost everything. My friend who plays Necrons was quite grumpy. Eternal Warrior
You made space zombies feel emotion? Double win :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/287539-the-magnificaent-logan-grimnar/#findComment-3609596 Share on other sites
Cate
When using it in one hand the axe counts as a Frost blade and not a Frost Axe. Eternal Warrior
So it's confirmed. He uses an axe, with the rules for a blade, even though there are rules specifically for axes.... Makes perfect sense. I'm happy about it mind you because it doesn't make half of his weapons rules useless. But it's a little silly. Rune_Priest_Rhapsody
I also pod him in with TDAWGs, or set him roaming around with Long Fangs with either Tank Hunters or Relentless. I hope we get a new model of him, one that isn't noticeably smaller than the plastic models... Until then I'll keep using my converted counts as... Welcome to the Logan Grimnar fan club, brother!! Eternal Warrior
Rune Priest, does relentless work on the turn they come out of the drop pod? I have heard conflicting reports. Thank you in advance. Rift Blade
Not trying to be sarcastic but why would it not? Relentless is a USR. The only restriction is no charging. Unless something has changed in the last 3 months or so. I've kinda been away. Eternal Warrior
Maybe the charging thing was throwing me off. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/287539-the-magnificaent-logan-grimnar/#findComment-3610183 Share on other sites
Rune_Priest_Rhapsody
Rift Blade is right. You can disembark from a drop pod then shoot as long as Logan is granting you relentless. Inquisitor Kravin
So it's confirmed. He uses an axe, with the rules for a blade, even though there are rules specifically for axes.... Makes perfect sense. I'm happy about it mind you because it doesn't make half of his weapons rules useless. But it's a little silly. He uses the axe with special rules that made sense at the time they were written, before the main rules changed. I've been in the hobby since 1991 (just before 2nd ed). Basically play Codex Space Marines and you'll get a new Codex shortly after each new game edition is released and your rules will make sense. Play any other faction and you'd better get used to carrying a bunch of FAQs with you because GW Studio is always moving its own goalposts! :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/287539-the-magnificaent-logan-grimnar/#findComment-3612238 Share on other sites
DanPesci
Aye with the relentless thing.....i always just make sure that the very first thing i do each turn (so before rolling for reserves etc etc) is to declare what special rule grimnar is choosing that turn. Whether this is affected by him not technicially being on the board if hes in a drop pod (similar to the way a rune priest cant cast blessings) i dont know....sure there'll be some poeple who complain about it, but everyone ive ever played doesnt mind. My favourite way to run grimnar is: Logan Grimnar 1x WGPL 10x Grey hunters, P.Fist, Wulfen, M.Gun x2 Land Raider Crusader Expensive but fun in apocalypse. This squad went toe to toe with ghazghull and 15+ nobs in the last apocalypse game we played...wolf guard challenged ghazgull to take him out the fight first turn, grimnar piled wounds into the nobs, and then tanked 23 saves (2+ armour, using a wolf standard haha), before piling into ghazgull and killing him in one full turn). However, he's just as good (and probably fluffler) leading wolf guard, whether out of a drop pod or land raider...or hes fun attached to long fangs. Agreed that it would be nice to see him get an extra wound, or have his points drop a bit Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/287539-the-magnificaent-logan-grimnar/#findComment-3612308 Share on other sites
