rlproct922
Good afternoon I am just getting started in WH 40K, I have a friend that is willing to sell me his Draigo wing since he no longer plays Grey Knight. I've posted the list below. Tell me what you think, should I change it? What units should I add or remove? What do I need to know? Draigo Vindicares x2 Paladins x3 Purifier Squad x1 Dreadknight x1 Dreadnought x1 Thanks for your help. Deathstrike_Chimera
I don't play grey knights but this doesn't seem like very many models to me. If you only get 3 paladins I don't believe that is enough for one squad. I know I would want more than 12 models on the table Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/287565-new-to-wh40k-draigo-wing/#findComment-3609673 Share on other sites
Gentlemanloser
Well for a start you can't use two Vindicares at the same time. Paladin have a minimum of 1, so you could have three Troop choices with just three Paladin. How many marines are in the Purifier Squad? What are they armed with? Do you want to use them as Purifiers? rlproct922
I have asked him for more info on the units. I am planning on using the purifiers as purifiers. So in your opinion should I get more paladins or less? Deathstrike_Chimera
Depends apon how you want to play. I would get more termies for the army though. That's kind of the draw for GK. I have seen Inquisitor Coteaz and servitors along sanctioned psykers put to good use too. But yeah since you are a beginner I would recommend getting terminators. Again I don't play GK but that's just my two cents Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/287565-new-to-wh40k-draigo-wing/#findComment-3609806 Share on other sites
Quixus
Besides the 2 wounds the advantage of paladins are the 2 special weapons per 5 paladins. a unit of 5 paladins with 2 incinerators/psycannons will have quite a lot of firepower. a unit of less than 5 will not have any special weapon. Also the selling point for Draigo is that he makes paladins troops, so take some. Gentlemanloser
If you want to start with a small army (for ease of cost and time) then take Paladin over Terminators. While Terminators have seen a small buff with 6th edition, it's still more cost effective to take 5 Paladin instead of 10 GKT (315 points compared to 450) and use the savings on another unit (you could get a 5 man Strike Squad with Psycannon for 110). You will need to watch out that Paladin aren't subject to Instant Death, and in general in 40k more is better. More GKT give you more shooting and more more CC attacks. More Strikes than Terminators do the same. Purifiers are a great unit, and Draigo can make them score with The Grand Strategy. Going back to lists, if you took 10 GKT with 2 Psycannons they would set you back 450 points. Or you could take 5 Paladin with 2 Psycannons and 5 Purifiers with 2 Psycannons for 455 points. Reclusiarch Darius
Draigo Vindicares x2 Paladins x3 Purifier Squad x1 Dreadknight x1 Dreadnought x1 Draigowing means you go Paladin heavy. So your list should be more like; HQ: Lord Kaldor Draigo (275 points) Inquisitor w/force sword+bolt pistol, 'Prescience', 3 x servo-skulls (64 points) Troops: (2) Apothecary w/warding stave, 4 x Paladins w/psycannon+hammer, 5 x Paladins w/halberds (705 points each) Total: 1,749 points Deepstrike one squad off the servo-skulls into their DZ, stomp face, walk the other squad up with the Inquisitor in support. Do not play this list against Tau or Eldar however.
