AdMech alone for HH viable?

Thanks for the opinions.

Would you say that FW's INTENT is to have AdMech as a standalone force as the later books come out?

I'm guessing yes.

Reason I'm asking is that I'm deciding on what color to paint some of my other 40K models (like the Avenger) and wanted to paint them AdMech compatible colors (grey with red trim, etc.) so that I can dual use them if it looks like AdMech are going to be a standalone list later.

Without a doubt, FW is proactive in handing you opportunities to field AdMech as a standalone force; in the first book alone as you can see they grant you exeptions of counting things like the strike fighter as fast attack to make up for the shortage of units.

It's only going to get easier and easier to field solitary AdMech as every book comes out, and by book three they'll have more options than the last necron codex did.

Of course, you'll start seeing some decline in options offered once space is left out for Army and Custodians. The only faction I could see FW "pushing" (big word for FW) would be niche imperial ones such as Black Sentinels and Imperial Agents.

Even then the route's wide open to you as it always is with FW (try playing movie marines just by using Centurions to make a tactical squad).

Yeah, mainly meat shields. Although honestly, most of the other units in the AdMech army are pretty durable, so I'm not sure they're entirely needed. The Thralls are pretty useless at this point, but I think once Imperial Army makes a debut you'll see their usefulness rise.

I've tinkered with ad-mech some and the main use, for me, is cheap scoring if you want it. Not a great unit, but a dirt cheap unit, and often thanks to the limited options you will have either odd point-blocks to fill in, or you just want some extra bodies to hide in back and stand near something.

Don't expect much, but you don't pay much, so fair is fair.

Beyond that, I concur: AdMech is totally viable on its own, as it should be. They are good already thanks to the wide variety of shooting options and tough platforms to put them on. Yes, your list is limited, but it's not bad. It's just limited.
