Thousand Sons Heresy contributions?

So, I'm currently getting pulled relentlessly between my two favorite legions. Thousand Sons and Alpha Legion!

I'm planning an Alpha Legion force, but each and every time I see a Thousand Son in their lovely red and gold, my hearts starts to flutter. They were my first legion, and will always have a big place in my heart.

But before I make any rash decisions, what happened? We all know the story about how they escaped Prospero...but what then? We know there were legion elements on the fleet that Magnus sent away, we know that they never recovered fully from prospero and only was a small part of the chaos forces on terra. But between Prospero and Terra...what happened? I imagine that they would continue to recruit after Prospero, and battle it out where they could. The Spireguard, what happened to them? Elements of them should have been on the ships that were sent away by magnus too.

Daemons? When did they come into the picture. Comeon FW, release that book NOW! :P

Does anyone have any information about the activities of the Thousand Sons during the heresy? Does the Thief of Revelations say anything? I haven't read it so I don't know what's it about.

Knowledge is power! :)

They've barely been touched in the BL books so not a lot to go on there.

I suppose it comes down to how long you're prepared to wait. Extinction is dropping within the next couple of months and that's going to contain lots of stuff for the Alpha Legion whilst Inferno might drop at the end of the year if certain rumours are to be believed and that's when the Thousand Sons get the FW love.

Maybe someone could chip in with how they sit on the allies matrix since I don't have Betrayal to hand at the moment

Yeah, it sucks having absolutely no information about them available. It's what ultimately puts me off starting with them, though I did have a strong urge to go crazy and start an army of them right this very instant! Maybe I still will, but not as extensive as I originally planned...

...at least until some more info about their actions during the heresy is revealed...

I am in the same position, with regards to Wolves+Custodes+Silent Sisterhood, so I'm just working up single models to see how I would proceed once more information becomes available. If rumors prove to be true, we might be seeing "our" book at the end of Q3/Q4.

That gives you plenty of time to dabble. Some of the things I'm doing are working through my color selections and such. So if you are a "planner", then now's a good time to "lay" plans. :)

Yeah, I haven't started on the red yet, though I'm trying to find a nice gold at the moment...

Agree, you're gold will be important because you will want to be able to duplicate the method of getting it the way you want. But that's an accent color. Also, you might want to think about a second accent color (e.g. Turquoise) to give you a little spot color for some variation.

And red...that will be the tough one. There's lots of ways to do it (bright/dull/everything in between), but you will certainly be doing a lot of it, so you'll need that one nailed down.

Have you thought about what kind of force you'd "like" to have?

Not really, no. Tanks is a given, and a lot of troops. I'm planning on

getting a Mk II assault squad as well as a lot of marines on foot. Heavy

weapon squads and terminators...and robots!

I think right now I am leaning towards infantry heavy. The number of potential "Prospero" choices could eat into the motor pool. I'm thinking of the things that were mentioned in the books and so, infantry, dreads, a Land Raider, and maybe a couple of whirlwinds. Somehow I'd like to work in a Fire Raptor and some of the Scimitar jet bikes.

I'm sure working up lists will be character building. :)

May I make a suggestion for the gold? Try Runelord Brass, with a shading of Agrax Earthshade. it gives it an antiqued goldish color, looks really nice.

I will try this, though I can't decide if I want an antiquated look or a more shining "new" look on them for that. But I will try out some techniques other than my old leadbelcher+sepia stuff...

Yeah, infantry heavy indeed. Also, terminators! Though I really like the chataphractii termies, I want to save some room for the scarab occult as well! :)

Magnus makes a few appearances such as in the Aurelian novella which is on sale now, as well as Betrayer. Basically, it seems like Magnus is on the Planet of the Sorcerers trying to make up his mind as to what side of the war to intervene on, though Lorgar is sure he'll join on the side of the traitors. The Rubric hasn't been used yet but I imagine its coming.

It's not so much "no one likes them" as it is they're still pretty much shell shocked after Prospero and Magnus is playing it smart/midlifecrisis and unwilling to commit to either side. Whatever they do you can be sure they consider themselves and their cause higher than either the Emperor or Horus; both legions are pretty much the arrogant know-it-alls of the heresy who love to scoff at either side.

Isn't the rubric after the heresy?

I don't know, I was going to ask one of you guys. I vaguely remember reading something that said there were Rubricae at the Battle of Terra, but I could just be remembering wrong.

Pretty sure they are at the big battle iirc the old visions of heresy
