master of runes

Recommended Posts

On page 37 of the Codex in the first paragraph under Rune Priest Psychic Powers it explains that a Rune Priest may use one psychic power each turn, under the new definition that would make a Rune Priest a Mastery Level 1 psyker. If the Master of Runes upgrade is purchased the Rune Priest can use two psychic powers each turn thus making him a Mastery Level 2 psyker.

Don't feel bad, it's not like there was a bold heading for Master of Runes, it's just sort of buried in that one paragraph, easy to miss it.

As Vash113 stated its the difference between mastery level one and two now. That said unlike most psykers who can only choose one power per mastery level, Rune Priests can choose two from the Space Wolf codex, or use the rulebook powers(chosen as normal, select discipline and randomize) for Biomancy, Diviniation, or Telekinesis.

It's better than having to buy a second Rune Priest for 100...and especially if he's back babysitting the long fangs? I think it's worth it because when he's not shielding the long fangs he can be shooting twice at least with Living Lightning or once when he is having to shield them. I felt like he was a beast in my game this afternoon.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think you can use the same power twice in a single turn...

Not only can you not use the same power twice, you can't use more than one shooting power in a turn. Since 5 of the 7 codex powers are shooting powers, it really isn't worth the extra points.

Caveat: I'm pretty sure the above is still accurate in. 6e; I know that was true for 5e, and don't think it changed.
