Ultramarine vet Posted March 6, 2014 Share Posted March 6, 2014 Correct me if I'm wrong, but there can only be 2 primary detachments. For example, I take Ultramarines as my primary detachment. Then once I've reached 2,000 points, I can bring the Salamanders chapter as my second primary detachment. They can't be an allied detachment right? Thanks! Dam13n Posted March 6, 2014 Share Posted March 6, 2014 I suggest you read the Chapter Tactics rules on page 77 in a little more depth. 1 - You may have an Primary detachment of Ultramarines and an Allied detachment of Salamanders, Space Marines are unique in being able to do this straight out of their codex, without the need for supplements. 2 - You are right, you may have 2 Primary Detachments (from the same codex) in games of 2000pts or more. This then allows you to have 2 Allied Detachments, 2 Fortifications etc. All of which is explained on page 108-110 of the BRB. 3 - Something that has been debated here is the possibility of squeezing 4 sets of Chapter tactics into one army (at over 2000pts).
