@Telhdrat...thanks for your comments! And remember I still have my eye on your vast collection haha..good to see your in the ETL this year again.

@Relict..ETL is being run from the 1st of may this year..anything you can add to the heresy forum will be appreciated! Love your World eaters mate and great background! Yours arent rougher than mine, we just have different painting styles..my background writing would be rougher than yours though haha..

@Chaplainmikey..thank you so much for your kind comments! And thanks for looking. .very appreciated!

@warpsmith_johnson..it might be a while yet till I get to the chainaxe squads as I seriously lack painting time, but they will be there..now get to painting your own white and blue nutters haha.

@Cyrox..thanks for your comments..a few good practice minis had to suffer to get the right weathering effect for these..as they are predominantly white its very easy to go to far, glad you like though!

@Augustus b'raass...thanks for your comments mate and glad you like em..I did feel a bit like giving up but decided more to keep going with this thread so I could see my own progression. .glad I kept at it as the responses have been great for motivation.

Regarding the blood..it is tamiya clear red what I do is thus:

Have a pool of tamiya in one well of a pallette with a drop or two of thinner mixed in,

Have a couple of drops of VMA camo grey brown in another well of a pallette.

Use a CHILDS toothbrush and just lightly dip the end bristles in the VMA then dip the whole end of the toothbrush in the tamiya..

Pull back the bristles and let fly!..

Obviously how much you want to add is up to you, I generally just pick one direction (not the crappy boy band), and let it have one spray, the tamiya and the VMA seem to naturally blend in the process of splattering to give a realistic effect..below is a pic of my last splatter board.

Hope this helps and thanks so much for all the comments.

3 more to go and your saved from updates for a while!

Cheers for looking

But damn do these world eaters look awesome. I love your whites and the weathering you're putting down. How do you achieve the shading around the studs? Is it just black wash or the new ridiculous name GW gave it or is it an oil wash?

Looking forward to seeing more! thumbsup.gif

@November...many thanks to you for your kind comments. ..in about a years time I might have something resembling an army haha..but would love to see our armies on a table matched up..thanks again

@Augustus b'raass...thanks again for your replies! Cheers me up no end mate...

As regards the wash, you were so close with the guesses..its actually a mix of heavily thinned enamel..50/50 mix of blue and brown..I use that to shade both the white and blue of the armour...fantastic stuff to use!

Thanks again for replying

Well thanks to a rainy sunday, another clone trooper has been born..

Thanks again for looking

@Reckoning34...cheers for your response mate, much appreciated. .I actually picked this model for the leg difference lol, thought it had a nice cobbled together look about it...thanks again for your reply

Just wondering wether to shorten the axe haft, bit less manga..might also take away the power fist to have plasma pistol instead, would work then as a counts as Khârn? ?

Thanks again for looking

Boom - there's yer weathering. Brilliant look considering it's washes of thinned paints. Great tones in the brass/blues - I think that's why they "pop" in pictures. So often the WE armies focus on getting a nice clean white, for me, the part that really brings them out is the blue and metallics - which you've nailed. Now hurry up and do some more!

I really like Sharn (sp?) as your praetor - he'd do as a Khârn-counts as but he's such a nice conversion that i'd play with him WYSIWYG as your own character.

I like the longer shaft (ohh err) of the axe, but it does make him look a little unwieldy. Have you thought about repositioning him so he's resting the axe at 90degrees? ie have the pommel on the base like he's poised mid-battle? It's less of an action shot, but it would gel maybe a little better with his "at ease" legs/torso. As the movement is seemingly all being generated in pose through his right arm?

Anyway - very minor C&C, it's a nice conversion and looks good as is. I think so much of posing etc is very much a personal preference, and it's hard to C&C that without sounding like you're being an A-hole.

How do you get the decals on the shoulder pads to conform to the curvature of the surface so well? I've been running into problems getting a flat decals to stick perfectly to a curved surface. I use Future floor polish to soften and protect the decals, but it's a hit and miss - it works well about 50% of the time.

@November..thanks you so much for such a positive response..if we ever meet im so gonna buy you a beer!.. and tbanks for the honesty regarding the pose of sharn, its made me look a bit more in depth into the pose.

Im thinking of changing the axe to the other hand and lengthening the shaft (hehehe) so as its resting on the base at ease like you mentioned. Thanks again mate!

@DSS7...cheers for taking a look and leaving a reply, much appreciated and good luck to you in the ETL.

@Relict..I use the tried and trusted combo of microsol/microset..you probably know the method already, but just incase your not familiar will explain...gloss varnish the surface you want the decal on and let dry...

Cut the decal off the sheet as close as possible to the actual decal.

In the case of the world eaters symbol, put a cut into the decal between each "spike" of the outer rim

Apply micro set and while still wet position decal where you want it and leave for a few minutes..

Remove excess with kitchen roll.

Carefully brush on microsol and leave for a few minutes.

Gently brush out the creases of the decal using a flat brush..dont go crazy here..as if its not softening enough then put a lil more microsol on and repeat..

Thats about it for decals..got a pic below to show what products your looking for....

Oh and just when you thought you got away without seeing one more nearly completed model....

Your WE look amazing and I find them quite inspirational myself.  I've looked through your posts and I can't find the exact paint recipe for the white and blue areas of the power armor.  I hate to be a bother but would you mind telling me how you paint them?  I currently have one Rampager painted as a color tester and I'm not completely satisfied with it.  I would love to have mine looking more like your excellent minis.

While still high on the hobby bug, managed to do some alterations to Capt Sharn..

Think it looks much better this way round

Does the axe look suitable to represent an excoriator chainaxe and does it perhaps need a speartip added to the bottom to finish it off?

Thanks again for looking

Oh wow, spraying enamel. Very interesting. I'll try that out in my next army.

I love the cooky you gave us with the contemptor body. It's such a lovely model to build man, I just finished mine and loved every minute of it. I wish you the same! Enjoy!

The axe looks fine as it is, but -and here's some feedback from my perspective, do ith it what you will. I would make him hold the axe higher. The axe is very top heavy, so maing him hold it so low makes it look unnatural. He'd have to have extremely strong wrists to hold the axe like that. Even with power armour, he'd be struggling - while I think you're going for a relaxed, taunting pose. Seeing as it's not possible to make him hold the axe higher, resolve the issue by altering the angle of the axe to the arm so the axe is vertical. This way, the centre of gravity for the axe is straight above the wrist, which would make it far more plausible to hold it in such a relaxed stance. thumbsup.gif

Keep it up - your models look awesome! I love this thread! (but where are the bolters??? msn-wink.gif)

@Augustus..really appreciate your input mate, thanks for taking the time to look and respond..your so right about the axe being over balanced. .in my excitement I didnt even think about it..another good reason to have someone else's opinion to help out...I cant even pass it off as 30k astartes having stronger wrists haha..sooo thanks to your advice just made a few small changes..new axe head to lower the centre of gravity, think it works better...

Looking forward to the contemptor..be interesting to paint "huge" marine..hope I can do it justice

Thanks again for your input Augustus..

@CMD7..same to you mate, thanks for taking the time to look and respond..helped me make my mind up about adding the spear tip, although what I added might be considered a pommel lol, thanks again for replying, much appreciated

Ok..Capt Sharn..take 3..

Axe across the body..

Hey chaplain nice work all round. You inspired me a couple of months back to give enamels a go, and I'm loving the new techniques ive learnt.

Regarding Sharn, the axe straight up looks the best IMO. It's the most natural looking pose to my eye. It looks excellent.
