chaplain mortis
@Brother Molokai..thanks for taking the time to respond..glad I have given some inspiration aswell...I swear I have seen a picture of your awesome Deathguard termies around here somewhere? .. well done to you on them.. Regarding the axe position, I think your right with straight down..thanks for your input! Will you be adding to the heresy forum for the ETL? Cheers again Finally finished the 5 marines, so the demi squad is complete. .YAY...now just ten more to complete the squad haha..then 100 more to complete the company! So with a bit of fanfare. .here they are Thanks for looking. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y2/chaplainmortis/tumblr_m6xjlrplFw1qbrdf3o1_r4_500.gif http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y2/chaplainmortis/20140426_175904.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y2/chaplainmortis/20140426_175931.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y2/chaplainmortis/20140426_180009.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y2/chaplainmortis/20140426_180307.jpg

November
Missed two updates! Argh. Very nice, very very nice...World Eater-y sorts. The full squad looks excellent, and looking forward to seeing how you tackle a Contemptor. Also, I didn't realise that you were using Tamiya paints, how'd you rate them - i've picked up a few odd colours over a period of time but i've never tried them on anything? I really like the redo on Sharn - for what it's worth I think both the upright and minor-tilt versions work. The whole balance issue is so minimal when you consider the whole model that it's unlikely to make much difference - i'd go with whichever you preferred. The axe is epic enough to be an Excoriator - i'm not sure how that works with a powerfist though? From a game PoV (and I may be wrong) presumably since it's two handed and unwieldy it wouldn't help that much to have a powerfist as a second weapon as you wouldn't get an attack in CC and it's strikes-last? From a purely rule of cool look its badass though! :D I guess the powerfist will be useful when fighting high T models or weapon "one-shot-ing" marine characters. Not to hijack your thread at all, but I thought i'd reply to your post on my plog directly if that's ok? As far as a multi-member plog, I thought it might be interesting to have a log for a few of the disparate HH logs that are about, and try and tie some of the concepts together. In short I thought a shared-fluff "Expedition Fleet" with a few legions crusading in the same-ish are of space might be interesting. And considering the various loyalties on show... Anyway if you'd be interesting in joining in then gimme a shout, I can see that the WE and BA could potentially be good rivals! - i'll be posting some preliminary fluff from an area of the Segmentum Ultima that i've used in my gaming groups 40K campaigns on my plog later. chaplain mortis
@Daemonclaw...thanks so much for commenting good sir..and I know! Ten whole marines! Haha not bad eh, just gotta keep foccusdd now..cheers again mate. @November...again, cheers for replying and for nice comments..very appreciated. The Tamiya paints are from there enamel range...very nostalgic when you smell those buggers...takes you back to airfix spitfire days lol. For Capt Sharn..definitely rule of cool there..for some reason I have always put powerfists on my lead h.q models..and sometimes that has helped me out no end being able to powerfist demons upside the head..thanks again for your input on the build of him..mucho appreciated.. Replied on your thread regarding joint work as interested in seeing where this could go! Thanks again for looking
deathspectersgt7
They look great as does the splatter.
Augustus b'Raass
Borther, the new axe head looks really good. I'm glad you appreciated my input. I really like it - though it seems pic 1 and pic 2 depict two different angels. If I had to choose, I would definitely go for number two. Of course, as November said, go with whatever YOU prefer. they're your models so YOu are the ultimate judge Regarding the little blood spray tut you gave in your response to me - the CHILD's toothbrush is because of the smaller hairs on the brush right (which make you able to aim better) Congrats on the full ten man sqaud. They look GREAT. Well done, sir.
chaplain mortis
@DSS7...thanks again for taking the time to leave a comment..big thumbs up to you. @Augustus b'Raass..cheers again mate for helping with ideas for the build of Sharn..always helps to have other people's perspectives on things.. Your right about using the childs toothbrush. .smaller bristles helps give you more control..not only that but kids toothbrushes have Softer bristles than adult ones...this helps by making the "flicking" of the blood more gentle...when tried with an adult brush it just dumps the blood in one go rather than make a "splatter"..hope this helps and thanks again for taking the time to reply! Keep up the nightlords mate
chaplain mortis
Things to come for my first ETL vow http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y2/chaplainmortis/20140429_171035.jpg
chaplain mortis
About half way through this guy at the moment.. Was wondering if I should add a white decal to his left knee pad? Cheers for looking http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y2/chaplainmortis/20140501_191540.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y2/chaplainmortis/20140501_191611.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y2/chaplainmortis/20140501_191651.jpg

Thanks again mate. @Augustus...added the decal..thanks for the push..and those antenna just wont straighten! 4 times ive tried..even made a straightening contraption out of a clothes peg and card..next day they just went back to that shape haha.. I think Sharn might be up for my second vow for the ETL..but I also have an idea for a chief apothecary...and a second contemptor..thanks so much for all your replies..very appreciated my good sir! Right I have finished...so far..I will be the first to admit it would look so much better with another hand! If only I could find that DAMN power axe! chaplain mortis
@DSS7...many thanks again for your continued replies to this thread..glad you appreciate the decal work..cheers again! @Marshal2Crusaders..thanks for the comments! The decal work is all done using microset and microsol..an absolute blessing those 2 products..although patience is something else needed..it was patience I lacked with going ahead with an imperial fists army..those fists decals are hard hard work..talking of imperial fists. .hope your still working on yours..cheers for taking the time to leave a comment. Augustus b'Raass
Congrats on finishing him - he looks great. Better than great, actually. One nitpick I have is this (and I am only allowing myself to nitpick about this because your skill and the sense of realism in you models made me notice): the blood on his armour looks fresher than the blood on his axe, which doesn't make sense to me - it should be the other way around no? Or is this the light combined with the angle? Also I am torn: On the one hand I love your ETL progress because it means more pics of great models. On the other hand I hate your ETL progress because you're a WE and you're not contributing to the Chaos team.
Pyromancer
Nice model brother, the gold is very well done! I also like the realism you have created with your models, with the chipping and blood. Keep it up!
Knight of the Raven
Dear god these french cancan dancers creep me out. They all look good. I wish I could offer criticism, but my skills peak at 'drown it all in wash.'
chaplain mortis
@Daemonclaw..cheers again mate!..trying to crack through these to get on with more vows! @Raass...I would never class it as nitpicking mate...just glad your having a good look and taking an interest! ..regarding the blood. .its a combination of a few things..light and angle, and a sense of trying to go real with it..the blood on the axe is darker as is a greater quantity on it, were as the armour has just been splashed with old (darker) and fresh (lighter) ..the base colour makes a difference aswell..I did a lot of research on blood and its effects..gets very morbid very quick haha..and the best examples where pictures of butchers white aprons and the cleavers, knifes they use..lol probably trying for to much realism here.. And regards the ETL..my guys are chaos, they just dont know it yet haha..you could have pledged for the heresy forum! Cheers again for your comments Raass @Pyromancer...cheers again for taking the time to comment...gotta keep up the momentum with these guys as got more planned for the ETL! Cheers again @Knight of the raven..when you talk of your skills, are you referring to your painting or can-can dancing lol..but seriously thanks for taking the time to look and leave a comment. .very appreciated First of the termies done..as usual just needs basing and blooding Thanks for looking http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y2/chaplainmortis/20140508_195131.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y2/chaplainmortis/20140508_195146.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y2/chaplainmortis/20140508_195208.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y2/chaplainmortis/20140508_195155.jpg
daemonclaw
great looking termy mortis ,i think you are getting more painting done in these last few days than you have in years
Pyromancer
Nice termi, I think the cataphrsctii may be my favourite there are. On your blue areas, do you intentionally have them glossy? It is a somewhat unusual to see them like that is all.
chaplain mortis
@Daemonclaw..your definitely right about getting more painting done..my bloody shoulder is killing being locked in the painting position haha..thanks again for replying. .keeps the tumbleweed away for a bit. @pyromancer..thanks for your comment..gotta agree with you, cataphractii is seriously nice armour..pain to paint but brutal in its overall look..regards the blue..just waiting on getting some satin varnish thats all lol. And guess what? Your right, another one finished.. Pics as usual you lucky buggers Thanks for looking. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y2/chaplainmortis/20140510_181512.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y2/chaplainmortis/20140510_181527.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y2/chaplainmortis/20140510_181544.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y2/chaplainmortis/20140510_181701.jpg
