Converting a Typhon Siege Tank

So I tried out a Typhon the other day, and it took out over a third of my opponent's army on its own (3 Centurions and a five man paladin squad, plus a few marines here and there). 

 

So now i've entered into a dilemma, for me, Forgeworld models are a tad cost-prohibitive so I want to convert one. I intend to take a basic LR and work from there, however I am in need of some suggestions as to what to use for the cannon, would some of the weapons from the baneblade kit fit? Also are there any third party manufacturers that could be suggested?

A brother on this forum by the name of SickSix (SilverSkullGamer on youtube)used a 3rd party kit called the "big momma cannon" combined with a land raider to make an Ares/Typhon.  Here is a picture of the end result:

While I think the cannon might be a tad large for what you need- the dozer blade (available separately if memory serves) would look killer on a custom typhon.  If you want to replicate the armor of the typhon with a smaller weapon barrel; my recommendation would be to buy an imperial guard basilisk cannon and either cut the barrel down, or replace one with one of your liking.

the shielding that is holding the cannon barrel should fit on the front of the land raider, and cover up the assault ramp with some minor plasticard work.

Problem: The Typhon uses the Spartan chassis, not the Land Raider chassis. The Spartan is considerably larger than the MKI Land Raider (Proteus), as seen on the Forge World product page. Expect complaints from other players about the "unfair advantage" the conversion's smaller size grants it, regarding cover and concealment (difficulties detecting, targeting, or hitting the tank), or fluff (whether the Thunderhawk transporter, which can only carry one Land Raider, can carry the larger and heavier Spartan).
