Kierdale
... but don't have the time/money/models/rules for. :) What kinds of IG armies would you like to make if you had any or all of the above four conditions? Myself, it would be: I. An Attilan army. All cavalry. Do some yurts and other such scenery. Doubt we'll ever get an Attilan supplement though. II. Arcadian. Just like ye olde box art from the Rogue Trader days, complete with Ollianus Pious banner. III. Necromundan. Ganger minis for conscripts, Arbites as shotgun vets, and gang symbols on the rank-and-file. In this army the Taurox might not look so bad. WarriorFish
As everyone and their dog must know by now: I. Tallarn, plenty of troops and heavy armour all done up as the 8th Army as is proper. II. Praetorians, as an infantry company. Obviously. Maybe one day GW will pull their finger out? Maybe the Emperor will reward our faith with kit releases later, as Chaos got kits recently? All it'd take is 3 boxes and suddenly they're selling an entire new Guard line... Aqui
I'd love to do a Gaunts Ghosts army. Every major character done, to as near to their description as possible. Regiment disposition everything. I'd even have Lia Cuu in it, sure as sure... Naminé
A Warhammer Fantasy style IG force full of Rough Riders and and Solid Core of Ogryn marching up the field. So far I have 1 Ogryn. ...yeah. Warhead01
I really liked Geno Five-Two Chiliad from Legion. I don't think the art from the cover correctly represented their uniform. I also liked the First Born as well and would have collected those over my Steel Legion if they had been sold when I started . Really any army I collect depends on the uniform coolness, that oll' rule of cool. The only other regiment that I'd have loved to spend on would have been DKoK. O have only a platoon and some other units and to be happy I would need 3 more platoons and other units, like artillery. librisrouge
Looks like I'll finally be able to do mine soon. I've always wanted to do a stormtrooper based army. I used Grenadiers when I first got into IG but it doesn't cut it in the current dex so my poor specialists have kinda sat this edition out. Looks like that'll change soon. Nicodemus Doloroso
I. Praetorian infantry company with rough rider support II. Airborne/Stormtrooper company from the same planet as my current army (almost did this once before) III. Armoured Company Really time and money is the only thing holding me back from any of these. I may actually be able to do III and maybe even II since it would involve building upon the base I already have started rather than starting anew from scratch. Onisuzume
I: Death Korps of Krieg, infantry/artillery regiment. Love the whole Great War feel of them. II: There is no Legio II. III: (Super-Heavy) Tank Regiment. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/288081-the-regiment-youd-love-to-build/#findComment-3621691 Share on other sites

WarriorFish
There's some nice ideas in here, I quite like the sound of a Paratrooper army too now... Red Devils using Elysian rules perhaps? Arkaniss
DKoK for me. I've always liked the idea of an infantry horde army supported by heavy weapons and artillery. The sheer firepower at my disposal would be most enjoyable to wield. That said if I had the money and time for DKoK I'd probably want to build the same style army but made to look like Napoleonic era instead. I'd probably throw in some Rough Riders too! WarriorFish
DKoK are cool, and the way things might be going could be the only way to get Rough Riders soon... Nicodemus Doloroso
@WarriorFish: the paratrooper idea I had was originally with the second 3rd Edition codex -- I believe you could take a doctrine that allowed you to deepstrike your whole army and put them in carapace armour, if not make stormtroopers troops. Assuming that the forthcoming Codex: Militarum Tempestus has access to Valkyries/Vendettas, this is probably the route I would take IF I was going to do that army. I had at the time planned to do a whole army of Kasrkin models in pea-dot camo. Now I would probably do the new Scion models, same camo, and with burgundy berets. KhorneHunter57x
Valhallans. Cdr. Chenkov, a few Commissars, and plenty of Guardsmen and Conscripts marching with Leman Russes. No fancy weapons here - just lasguns, flamers, battle cannons, and the like. Oh, and greatcoats. Lots of greatcoats. Olis
These guys (whom I had assumed were Necromundan for a long time): http://wh40k.lexicanum.de/mediawiki/images/thumb/8/80/ImpSoldat.jpg/397px-ImpSoldat.jpg Thing is... I'd need either recasts of or a metric butt-load of Necromunda Lasguns (there's one from the old metal gun sprue that looks exactly right) to get the lasgun correct. And that's not to mention sourcing parts for the rest of the mini in army-sufficient quantities... Idlem
I just want to keep expanding my Cadians. The Vostroyan come as my second favorite regiment, but I'd always choose to expand my Cadians than start up a new regiment. RolandTHTG
The one that is painted better that I have the patience to do! If they bring back the droptroops doctrine, I'd love to do a Halo Hell-divers themed one, but that is definitely on the back burner.@ olisredan Have you seen Victoria Minatures? They have some alternate lasguns. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/288081-the-regiment-youd-love-to-build/#findComment-3621871 Share on other sites

Olis
@ olisredan Have you seen Victoria Minatures? They have some alternate lasguns. I have but, considering the MO of this thread, I'll settle for no less than the real deal. That Necromunda lasgun is exactly right. Not 'nearly close' or 'other lasguns might do just as well'. It fits the picture spot on. (I love Victoria Miniatures, btw. If I had the time and money I'd build an army out of at least two of the regiments featured there.) WarriorFish
Yeah, that's one of the rumours that sadly never has any weight... That's one of the classic Guard pictures, models that do them justice would be amazing. As for Victoria's Miniatures I'd like to have a Black Watch vet squad but the special weapon options are very limited unfortunately.
