Hello

Been a member / lurker for damn near a decade and I think i might have posted twice in all that time.

Well 3 yrs ago I started back up into the hobby prior to my 1st born and yup...i have more models in boxes than actual painted. However I have made more progress in these 3 years than all the rest in actualy having a fully painted army..to a standard i am happy with.

at best -  table top quality, ..  but its good enough to keep me painting.

Heres my HQ Jump Pack Librarian.

I am going to redo the power / force weapon - just did not turn out how i hoped.

I will post more finished stuff later on.

...You, Sir, have failed your modesty check.  These look great !  I love the weathering on the vehicles and the grass tuft bases, and the very clear outlines and separation of colours upon the motifs and changes in armour trim colours all stand out crystal clear.  You've captured all the right parts in a way to make them all stand out very neatly and made them look every bit the BA marked brothers we know.

You picked a very difficult colour to shade / highlight sparks on the force weapon - red at best goes pink if blurred with white, orange if you know how to shade the old BA way, and well, it doesn't lend itself to shining like a power weapon.  Have you tried either completely changing the colour to contrast with the existing red and blue - ie a green shade?  Check the Necron stuff.  Or, if you wanted to do red a quick thought came to mind, may I highly recommend you find the painting thread based on painting marines in metallic colours, and work out how to highlight and/or gloss it for that sparkle (chainmail base colour, bright mithril highlights and very thin coats of red ink perhaps).

Can't wait to see a picture of your dreadnought :)

Thanks again for the positive comments folks, much appreciated!

nope they are not death company but Scouts!

  • 3 weeks later...

So I completed this stormraven I have had for over a year now sitting assembled. I know alot of folks think it is an ugly model but I absolutely love it. Though painting it with a brush was a pain in the butt for me and the 2 weeks it took me to get er done has pretty much wiped me out on painitng for the time being.

It is not completely done... i do need to clean up a few tid bits and  re seal everything but im putting brush painting on the back burner for a bit.

In the mean time my brand new Badger Patriot 105 Airbrush came in the mail today and I was fortunate to inherit an old Paache VL set up some time ago.  all I need is the paint and some skill to match....

I have an order of minitaire paints comming and a alot of old assault marines to practice on..wish me luck!

oh and any CC's are most welcome, thanks
