Help me choose a legion (again...)

MK III is the best looking armor mark of all time, closely followed by IV.

Of course it is, I cant express that enough MK III is the best, sadly it doesnt exist for assault marines sad.png

Brother I'll fight by your side on the walls if the palace

No mercy, No respite. Ill fight till my flesh from my bones be hacked.

Mkiv with prototype vi vii is what I'm working into my BA.

Using honour guard helms from the red scorpions as they have a nice knightly feel for the final battle of the heresy.

I'm only giving decorations to officers etc.

Over the top ornamentation on them whereas the regular troops are all going to be kitted out to the max just no iconography.

Despoilers will have the yellow helms and I'm considering blue for the heavy support

I have a different thought. I wanted basic mark II / III for the entire army, maybe a few suits of MK IV.

I want as little ornamentation as possible. This is because in most BL book they mention marine officers removing their ceremonial armour (with all the bling) and wearing simple battle plate for war, so a few rank and honours but not over the top. The guys will be equiped to the max with ammo, grenades, etc. If they are helmetless it has to be present on their armour, haging from the belt.

About the helmet colours I want to stay away from that. I will however use gold helmets for veterans and maybe officers, the rest will wear regular red helmets. Sergeant Im thinking about giving them yellow helmets as a kind of heraldic indicator that they have been seconded from the veteran units within the company.

And terminators, if I add them, will most likely be tartaros. But Im not sure yet.

Mkiv armor and tartaros terminators are sleek and sexy.

I have allways seen the HH blood angels as that. With limited bling, only on officers and sanguinary guard would stuff such as nipple plates be found.

The cataphractii praetor would look amazeballs painted in Blood Angels colors.

I like the Cataphractii they just look too bulky for the BA, its an easthetic point of wiev. Just like the EC look better in tartaros. I will figure it out. As for heraldic company colours Im not sure.

The captains heraldy will either be a golden lion (rampant or just the head), a gryphon or a golden chalice. Heraldic colours might be white and red.

(Sorry for kind of reanimating this thread but I didnt feel like opening a new one for just 1 question)

What colour are the lenses of the Blood Angels? Blue or green? And if not blue, would it be highly unfluffy to paint them blue? Btw, Ive been reading up on my BA fluff, Sanguinius is a really awesome primarch.

Cool. Another question about the angels: Why do everybody call them space vampires? Apart from the blood drinking thing which a lot of human cultures have done through history I cant see anything that points to any vampiric genre. The IX are angels.

As far as I know, it's just the blood themes.

It's just another case of reducing a Legion/Chapter to an exaggeration of one aspect of their character, like calling the Space Wolves "space puppies" or "space vikings", or the Ultramarines being "war accountants".

How many people know that some human cultures drunk blood? The only reason people know of vampires is that media plasters them everywhere like vikings, ninjas and pirates.

I approve of blingless, tooled up marines, regardless of legion.

Well, no matter. My image for my Blood angels is that of a well organized military force, each marine equipped for war (ammo pouches, bolt pistols, grenades, etc), very little bling (ergo: combat armour, not ceremonial) and angelic theme (but just enough to make them stand apart from the other legions tradition wise). The same goes for the Raven Guard allies, equipped for recon, saboutage and seek and destroy missions, camou cloacks and the like.

I approve. Now get painting.  :P
