Jarl Kjaran Coldheart
Does anybody have any experience with Chapterhouse Studios Javelin Imperial Jetbikes? I like the appearance of the models, but have no experience with them or the company. RazorDaemon
I have only ordered from them once, not a jetbike but some heads and a shoulder pad. They are all pewter, site says some are resin but I have no idea what is resin on the site. The quality is ok, no worse than any old GW pewter models. The shipping isn't the fastest, but I have had slower. Regarding their shipping prices, at first glance you will see that they charge you extra (my order they charged 5.25 for Shipping and the envelope I received was marked as costing 3). Turns out, this isn't quite an underhanded steal, as just a poor and bad-looking business decision. There are more costs of course than just the bit itself and the price to ship it, but the issue here is that the guys running it (just a handful of people, not a company) factored in those costs under the label of "Shipping" instead of raising the price of the bit to cover those other costs, as most other companies do. I was not disappointed with what I got, and am not opposed to ordering from them again, just wanted to give a a friendly heads up. Edit: Just some fixing of dyslexic typing Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/288242-model-question/#findComment-3624974 Share on other sites
Brother-Chaplain Kage
Shipping and handling fees have been around as long as a postal service. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/288242-model-question/#findComment-3624982 Share on other sites
RazorDaemon
I can't help but feel my post was only partially read and conclusions were jumped to. They add extra fees into Shipping which are normally put into the amount charged for the bit itself. Growler67
Cost of the packaging material(s) are assumed (by me at least) to be part of the "shipping and handling" fee.....I've shipped things before and adding in the cost of the envelope/box or whatever, gas to get to the Post Office etc.....it ends up being a wash overall. I seriously doubt they are snaking profits intentionally via this method. They did win a HUGE legal fight with GW....so as one of the little guys that played the part of David to GW's Goliath, they are probably more concerned with keeping their production up and their ordering/shipping straight. Piano_Sam
I ordered two sets of the true scale storm raven extension kits. It took a long time to get to me (they're in Dallas and I'm in Central Texas, but it was still two weeks). The detail was good, but the quality of the cast left much to be desired. It was resin, so expect, I guess, some casting issues. Their prices weren't terrible, and I feel like, as they grow, they'll only get better, but I haven't ordered anything else from them since. I wouldn't tell people not to order anything from them. Far from it; they have a lot of great products. Still, my only experience somewhat curbed my enthusiasm to order again. If it's resin, expect a lot of work getting them right. It's worth it, though!! Based on my experience, companies throwing a few extra bucks on for 'handling' along with the shipping is very, very common. Based on my experience, companies throwing a few extra bucks on for 'handling' along with the shipping is very, very common. My post only mentioned how and where those extra dollars were factored in, how it was labeled, or not labeled. I have ordered things from several sites and even sent things myself, I am fully aware of Handling fees without any sarcastic and degrading remarks. I think this topic has gone enough off track concerning this. Rayray
Expect 2-4 weeks on shipping. And their shipping and handling charge is fairly reasonable considering location. I've seen worse, shipping is how I spend afternoons at work...
