greendestiny
What are your favorite bitz from the imperial line of models to use in conversions? For example: Favorite: Shoulder Pad Bare Head Helmeted Head Style bolt pistol Torso Legs etc The reason why I ask is that I am sort of running low on inspiration. I have bitz that I like best say to make an army out of but sometimes I find that someone else sees a bit that I have never liked in a different way and is using it in some way that makes it cool. Aqui
I have used this head three times for as many HQ's in my main army The hair acted as a base for the Captain's head dress (the army has an Aztec/Mayan/Incan etc feel) I've also used the crouching Marine legs for a couple of Marines (one in a Command squad, or is a Sergeant) Other kitbashed include using a Lizardman Cold one mount as a Counts as bike for the Chaplain. An Undead masked head to act as the top of the Crozius for said Chaplain. I'm also planning on using a Banshee and Wraith for a kitbash for a Dark Mechanicus Magos that is a Counts as Warpsmith. If you haven't seen it already, might I suggest a look at GuitaRasmus' awesome Dark Mecanicus topic Something Binary, this way comes for inspiration (I realise that it might not be the kind of thing you're interested in for yourself, but still, the topic is frankly one of the best examples of an army made from the bits of others). There are a lot of other topics too, but my brain is tired and I have try to get some sleep Hopefully, some one with a fully functioning brain can add extra links. In any case, I hope you find the inspiration you're looking for! Grotsmasha
Shameless self-plug to serve as inspiration for yourself ;) Last year I ran a series of conversion challenges, and I've recently announced a new one for April over in Amicus, wherein lies links to the previous challenges, HERE is that thread, thoroughly recommend a gander, the talented peeps here on the B&C put forward some fantastic conversions. There's links to the Top 10 from each Challenge if you don't wish to trawl through each Challenge thread. Kaedes Nex
I love talking about stuff like this, but not everybody is as (no offense to anyone) autistic and OCD as I am about tiny peculiar details so I don't often get a chance to talk about bits and the like. Here are my all time favorites: http://s17.postimg.org/6p1bf2r67/Forge_World_Bitz_Legion_MK_III_Shoulder_Pad.jpg Space Marines are spoiled for choice. There are literally dozens, sometimes hundreds of options just for a single body part. You should never run out of new ideas or inspirations unless you are just tired of marines and power armor in general. You can go on eBay and type into 40k marine in the search box and see hundreds of different bits. greendestiny
Well first off thanks for the responses. I appreciate any help I can get. I recently bought the new Sternguard box and love the marine stuff. Being the way I am I don't want my stuff to look just like everybody elses so I am looking at ways to mix in bits from other boxes back and forth to create cool combinations that aren't revolutionary but different from the next guys stuff. For example I was thinking about using the legs to go with (unkown torso) and Thousand Son heads to make a pre heresy style Thousand Son list representing their squads that were not on Prospero when the Space Wolves came to visit. Possibly a break off group that stayed loyal.... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/288397-favorite-bitz/#findComment-3629261 Share on other sites
