Intro and Question about the Codex

Hi all I've been around the forum for a while and been in the hobby for years. I've been going back and forth with armies with no real focus on what to stick with. I always like wolves(the animal), have pictures of them around my room and I like Vikings so it should have been obvious from the beginning. So today I bought the codex, wolves pack, and drop pod. I have about two dozen marines and terminators already that i'll throw wolf bling on. I haven't played a game yet but plan on to so trying to make sure my wolves are playable.

Ok intro over so here's my question about the codex. In the options for units like Wolf Guard battle leader, lone wolves, etc. it says "may replace bolt pistol and/or close combat weapon with:"

So if I wanted for example a Lone Wolf with 2 wolf claws I can replace both? I'm sure I'm reading it that way but want to ask to confirm it before I start putting the miniature together.

Already have a Wolf Priest built that I got the ideas from Karack Blackstone in the call to arms thread 'cause I wanted to get a start on it and get me going into this new project.

Thanks for your time.

Yes, you can trade in either the bolt pistol, or the chainsword, or both.  Thus allowing you to get double Wolf Claws if you wanted them.  Wolf Claw plus Power Fist is better, however, and doesn't cost any more.

Thanks for the reply although I checked the codex and it showed that the power fist is 5 points more than the wolf claw for both wolf guard leader and lone wolf. Would that combination still be better even with the price difference? or did the points change after the codex was released?

No, nothing changed really for that. THe current changes can be found in the FAQ that is linked on the main Wolf page for the B&C. Because the way the rules are written in 6th, as long as you have 2 specialist weapons, you count as having 2 weapons for +1 A. THey did not say both weapons had to be the same. So, equipping a PF & WC gives you the best of both worlds. At the start of each assault, just decide which one you're using in that assault.
