Jump packs or drop pods?

I was curious what is your preference(pros and cons) of how to deliver your assault marines.   I used to use jump packs religiously in 5th but I have all but shelved them for pods in 6th.  With the packs you get only 1 d6 scatter but you still can mishap, and with pods its 2 d6 but you can move 6 inches towards your target to compensate for the scatter with very little chance of mishap(aka going off the board).

I think it depends on what else is in the force.  I genearlly prefer jump packs, but my bias could be at least partially due to the fact that i own no drop pods and have no desire to spend the money to get a bunch.

I'm currently jump pack, but wanting to go drop pod.  I have had lots and lots of issues deploying from deep strike ... now to the point where I just don't do it anymore.  With jump packs (and enough terrain) I can get across the board quick enough to still be effective.

I want to build a death company drop pod, though ... I really like the idea of that!

Last night I used my first game where I used 3 Drop Pods. I usually always put my fragioso in one, I have one for a 2nd Furioso, and a 3rd for another unit (HQ, or Assault Squad, or Death Company). I'm impressed by them.

I like jump packs a lot, but don't like to use them on large units. I don't like to have 10 guys clumped together if I choose to DS - sitting ducks. I adore JP on a 5man DC w/lemartes (fun game), or vanguard (have to enjoy them b4 they get nerfed in next dex - loss of heroic), or pimped out HQ squad.

Just started trying out both on the weekend as well as in Razors.

I only liked the drop pod because I had 2 and my opponent had a lot of heavy support in his back field. Chose a 10 man melta unit to make sure his Defiler wasn't making another battle cannon shot. Probably annoyed by that a 10 man chaos unit with a Lord who had some bull torrent flamer jumped out of a Rhino and decimated them but that's when the Frag man showed his ugly face and took out all 10 and saved the few jump-pack-less souls that were left.

If you are deep striking I would go with the drop pod, this is purely to avoid eating a large blast in your opponents shooting phase. Otherwise you are deep striking and running to spread out. Personally I do not like this tactic because it wastes a round of shooting.

Punctuation ran away from me.
