stinkenheim
I'm trying to work out a way of modelling warp portals for daemons. Not as a terrain piece, but rather as party of a scenic base. Effectively what I want is to have a unit emerging from small tears in the warp. A similar thing could be used for warp spiders or such like, so it needs to be usable on a standard infantry base. Thing is, I'm stuck on how to do it. I was thinking initially of using plasticard, either using GS to add 'ripples' or possibly hearing it up (could even have it 'sticking' to the models as they emerge, kind of like stargate), but I'm not sold. I think the edge will be too regular for a warp portal. So, any ideas from anyone?? feuer_faust
You could try to make a thin circlular disc out of clear epoxy or resin, and give it ripples while it cures. FashaTheDog
Agate is what you are looking for. A small piece at a rock shop will cost $0.50 to a $1 depending on the shop and often be in a large basket full of pieces of differing colors, sizes, and shapes. These are often about as thick as the base your model is on. walpurgisnacht
^I second Fasha in recommending agate as cool looking gate portal thingy. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/288519-modelling-warp-portals/#findComment-3638763 Share on other sites
Astartes-ULTRA
agate looks right but do you just use it clean without paint or do the lines have relief that comes through if you want to paint it. Probably a dumb question but I've never seen this stone before.
