micahwc
Hi, I'm trying to return to this hobby after about a decade break. I would like list ideas and suggestions using the models I already own, which are: 10 sniper scouts 12 close combat scouts 3 dark vengeance tactical squads (3 heavy plasma, 3 plasma, 3 sergeants, 21 bolter marines) 1 original 10 man death company (9 death company and 1 chaplain) (a variety of special weapons to choose from here. hand flamers, plasma pistol, bolt pistol, power swords, power axes, etc) 5 tactical terminators (1 assault cannon) 6 TH/SS terminators 3 bikes (1 melta, regular marines, not scouts) 24 assorted marines coming in the mail. (2 missile launchers, 2 melta, the rest are either bolter or squad sergents) 2 additional chaplains (1 with jump pack) 1 "counts as" commander Dante (new death company body with power axe and infernus pistol) 1 "counts as" Mephiston (death company body with a force sword and a pistol) 1 "counts as" Corbulo (death company body with a cup) 1 "counts as" Astoroth (death company body with a jump pack and a big axe) I love death company and am not opposed to the idea of painting up 30 or so bolter marines as death company. I am also comfortable with modding these as needed. Making sternguard out of special weapon marines, etc. I am not really in a position to purchase anything else for the time being, so I want to make a list using only these models. Conversions are acceptable. Thank you in advance for any help.
Jolemai
Very tricky. You've essentially got a vanilla force with a red topping. I would recommend: 1 x Sniper Scouts (combat squad where necessary) 3-5 Tactical Squads (combat squad where necessary) Corbulo Mephiston (option to run as a regular Librarian) Tactical Terminators Death Company with the Chaplain Bikes (if you have the points, possibly outflanking) Combat Squads (maybe) Here you have a firebase with the heavy weapons and can advance with the other Tactical bits, Death Company, Corbulo and your Librarian. You will have the Terminators arriving by Deep Strike to take the heat off your advancing "tide" of troops. Note that this is a beginner force at best. It will be slow but will be able to hold many objectives. Sadly, Dante and Astorath don't really fit in here as they are the only models with Jump Packs whilst your Assault Terminators lack a delivery system (you could always Deep Strike them, but it's not really ideal). In short, I feel that this is lacking many of the things that make us unique and able to be a competitive force. Alternatively, you could use them as a vanilla list with Blood Angel allies. The things that crossover (Tactical Marines, Scouts, etc) are cheaper meaning you can get more of them on the table. The things that don't can ally in to provide a decent punch (i.e Death Company), but again this is a slow option. A good ally guide can be found here. Out of interest, who do you/would you normally play against and at how many points?
micahwc
Good question, I have no idea what the local meta is. There is a store in Rapid City that plays but I haven't attended yet. I'm planning on starting there in the near future. The only reason I would include Astoroth is to unlock more death company. I like them. Has nothing to do with their in game performance, I just like them. The first box set I ever purchased in the 90's was the original death company box. What are the oppinions or experiences using a large foot slogging unit of death company with minimal upgrades? They come to around 600 points if I recall correctly for a max size squad with mostly bolters. In a larger game there would still be a lot of points left for other units. micahwc
So, since this is basically a standard marine force, what would you suggest I add to make it more Blood Angel appropriate. I assume assault squads.

micahwc
Well, I'm converting a hellbrute into a dreadnought of some kind (death company for now). My 10 original death company marines are armed with bolters and combat knives so they can represent sternguard or death company. I converted some of the tactical terminators into a librarian, a sanguinary priest, and a chaplain in terminator armor so they could deathstar with the assault terminators if I wanted. I still have approximately 40 tactical marines and an assortment of special weapons. I have three plasma, three heavy plasma, two missile launchers, 1 melta, and 1 flamer left. I'm thinking about converting some missile devestators and running 3 squads of FNP devestators. I would probably stick the snipers near them. Use combat scouts as a speedbump, deepstrike the terminator deathstar and unleash any death company on foot. Any remaining points would be tactical marines. I am also not opposed to using the special weapons as an honor guard with converted storm shields. Any ideas or constructive criticism? Thanks in advance.
