Sevatar (thank you ADB)

At first I was all girly fanboy squeals over it, but now that I've looked at, that is a bright ass blue. Seriously, its like Ultramarine bright. Also, wasn't Sevatar's lion head a skull, not a brazen sculpture?

It is a brighter blue than you'd expect for the VIII, but I think if it was any darker the whole picture would be very drab. This has to go on the front of a book, remember? As it stands I think it's the darkest it could have been without drowning out the whole picture, not to mention it couples splendidly with the bright red shame gauntlets to really make Sev stand out.

Yeah, I mean I understand it but for some reason my initial

has mellowed out for some reason. I wouldn't say its a bad picture, its great. It just doesn't make me feel all warm and bubbly inside.

I can dig the whole lion head bit, but to me the colors look deliberately brightened because of an intensely bright source of light that is right there.

Um.. isn't he last seen as a prisoner on a DA ship? Hard to get to terra when you are in a chain-gang.

Should know by now that nothing can hold good ol' Sev down, he'll carve his way through the DA with humiliating ease and then make good his escape as our boys chase him around like Benny Hill policemen.

Okay, now I'm just getting snarky, I'll try to stop whistlingW.gif

Is that the same Sevatar whose Legion was just broken by the Dark Angels; whose primarch had his throat cut by the Lion in a fight that lasted three seconds; who argues with his own primarch for his father's hypocrisy and inability to hold a world as efficiently as the loyalist primarchs; whose fleet was completely scattered across half the galaxy twice in two devastating retreats/losses inflicted by the Dark Angels; whose elite First Company were all butchered and captured in a vainglorious boarding action that played right into the Dark Angels' hands; and who himself is a prisoner of the First Legion, becoming the only First Captain to suffer the humiliation of capture? And this was after a protracted two-year campaign in Thramas, where their idea of victory was to run away from the Dark Angels rather than stand and fight.

Or... a different Sevatar? One who's leading a Mirror Universe Night Lords Legion that aren't sucking and dying at every twist and turn of the Heresy?

I mean, I kid, but... I also don't. (And I know you weren't being a meanieface, Saph. The above isn't intended as a DAMN YOU rebuttal.)

Space King Arthur my fanny, Lion'El Johnson is clearly Space Ric Flair.

This is my favourite thing I've read all year - I've laughed so much my sides are actually sore!biggrin.png

It all makes sense with the robes and stuff now, too.laugh.png

EDIT:

Oops, there was another whole page of chat and discussion has moved WAY onwards from that. Apologies for going off topic a bit.sweat.gif

It's a very cool picture, in any case.happy.png

Something I've wondered about for a while now. How is it possible for a Space Marine to be a coward? After all, the physical ability to feel fear is removed from them.

Sure, they might just avoid dangerous situations out of rational self-interest, but a while ago I read about a woman with a damaged/destroyed amygdala, who couldn't feel fear. When confronted with something dangerous she didn't avoid it, but was instead curious:

When self-preservation is top priority amongst genetically engineered soldiers who are brainwashed and trained to act cohesively and be willing to lay down their lives if it will bring victory it appears as cowardice to those same genetically engineered soldiers.

They don't run away because they're afraid to die, their rationalization is that some situations are just unwinnable so why waste your life needlessly? Either way this is an awesome cover, wish I could see the DAs a little better, but the focus should be on the NLs anyway.

If the Night Lords get to fight their way out of the ship...they'll do so in Ultramar, right? With their Primarch coming down the mountain to merrily draw a map on the Lion's face.

And we know they get to Terra (well, not Curze, if memory serves), so...I wonder if this has something to do with Guilliman not being present at the final battle.

Well, he was coming back to Macragge after killing a daemon, and he was both covered in eldritch blood and pretty pissed, which usually makes for fun times and extra hours at the morgue. Still, Sanguiniu's also on Macragge now, so if Guilly, Lion-O and Sanguy aren't enough to beat Curze, I'm going to start thinking they got the wrong name for the Heresy...

Actually as far as I know, nothing says whether or not Curze was at Terra. That's why everyone thought it was a retcon when Blood Reaver said Night Lords were at Terra. But they aren't like the Wolves, Dark Angels and Ultramarines who were specifically said to not be there.
