Salamander Pyroclasts

The dreaded Pyroclasts are the burning fury of the Salamanders Legion given form. The Pyroclasts were created by Vulcan, Primach of the Salamanders, to fulfil the role of bringers of destruction, equipping them with advanced and extremely powerful thermal/incendiary weapons of his own devising known as flame projectors. To the Salamanders fire is more than merely a weapon; it has an almost mythical function and embodies both purifying destruction and the potential for rebirth and redemption.
In battle they are relentless and remorseless, and where they are unleashed there can be no possibility of mercy or reprieve from the fire.
The Salamanders Legion Pyroclast set, designed by Keith Robertson, is a complete multi-part resin kit comprising of five models armed with Pyroclast flame projectors, one of which is also armed with a power fist. This set is available to order now.

Beautiful.

Edit: After initial awe - one minor niggle sets in. The empty left hands on some of the squad members. I just don't see marines leaving a hand spare in battle. A tiny issue though. I'd just raid my bits box and give them at least combat knives if not chainblades.

I'm really mixed.
On the one hand, I love the flame projecoters and use of mark III.
On the other hand, the already mentioned empty and rather naff left hands.... and the helmets. If it was full on scales/chainmail draps it would be good, but it just looks like some rags with moldy sequins stuck on.... and the helmets top half looks quite eldar/fire dragon like.
I was hoping thses guys would be awesome, but instead they are kind of "meh" nice, but no where near as good as any of the other legion specific squads due to a few niggling but kind of obvious flaws that deflate the excitement.
I was thinking of asking for a squad a of a salamander specific squad for my birthday if it was out, think I may just ask for lascannon devastators or a breecher squad.

Yea sold 2 sets to me already, i could not hold back FINNALY SALAMANDER MODELS!!!!!! HMMM so many flames.

Poses could be changed fairly easily i am thinking and those empty hands filled with hammers and chain weapons or even bolt pistols easily. not so sure on the power fist but that can be changed easy to i am sure. Ill make sure do a review when they turn up.

Slightly sad they are not Wrist mounted like in Vulkcan lives. but still look amazing.

WAIT A SECOND WHERE ARE THEIR CLOAKS!!!!!???? sorry for that.

I have to admit, those guys look pretty cool to me. I DO NOT WANT TO BUILD SALAMANDERS!!!

Now having said that, is it possible in the Legion list to build a "rainbow" army, let's say, set in time of the Massacre, that could have IH, Sallies, and RG units in it, sort of a crusade army concept, since they were all there?

Well you can only have one set of legion rules per detachment. So you could do one primary detachment with another allied. If you want all there you could do a 2000 plus army, double primary detachment FOC and 2 allied FOC.

Or you could just pick one legion, use their rules but paint them however you like. Depends how 'true' to the rules you want to be. I'd be more than happy to change the rules so you can pick and choose from the 3 legions. If it turns out to be crazily broken then limits could be put on it to get the right fit.

Understood. I wasn't thinking about trying to cherry pick the rules, more interested in whether or not you could do something like have a large force of let's say, Breacher squads, have some of these Pyroclasts in support and then maybe a few other odds and ends.

So more thematic than gamey, from my perspective. Sounds like that's possible, but you'd have to take one Legion tactics thingey and it would apply to all units in your force.

Is that assumption correct?

You could do it with allies decently easy. Pick your favorite shattered Legion as the Primary, your second favorite as allies, and your third favorite would be represented by thematic units like assault marines for raven guard or something. I'm hoping they allow for the option of making a shattered legions list in the next book.
