KJB
Admittedly, they look better when seen from a different angle - http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/New_Stuff/SALAMANDERS_LEGION_PYROCLASTS.html Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/288724-salamander-pyroclast-models/page/2/#findComment-3636076 Share on other sites
Rune Priest Ridcully
Still not sold, and yes you can easily give them cloaks and chainswords/pistols in the left hand, but surly the kit should be complete/come with something for the hand to have other then looking naff. If it was just one or two, and the rest were using the flame projectors two handed, that would be great, as it is the poses makes most of them look like they are surfing mainly. infyrana
Not too bad, yes, the poses seem very limited but I guess that's typical. I've said before I kinda liked the face veil as it's just like the WW1 tank crews with mail masks to protect against shrapnel (which was mentioned earlier in this thread too). I'm not so keen on the finish of them, looks more like they are less scaley than I thought, but it's workable. My worst issue with these is the laminated rear of the helmets, to make that work, those Salamanders must have tiny heads with tiny brains - shriveled up and burnt perhaps. Some GS would fix that. From a non-sallie perspective, I see these as great LotD models, just paint the face veil like molten lava :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/288724-salamander-pyroclast-models/page/2/#findComment-3636127 Share on other sites
depthcharge12
Those guys would be a good conversion for whoever wanted to do phosphex flamers :) It would be ironically pleasing using salamanders for destroyer weapons.... Russ Brother 92
- ignore - all was already mentioned by others... damnable slow work net... They do indeed look better from more angles, I'm sure I'll get 5-10 of these guys for my 'Primarchs + Friends' project but not very soon tbh. Excubitor
...Now I fear how the Firedrakes will look. Anything as great as this, and my limited resistance to a 30k army will disappear...as will my bank balance... Telhdrat
Part of the ship... part of the crew... I quite like the mask myself, and love the models. I'm glad decided to hold placing my next FW order till today as these are just what I've been waiting for. Now, the only question is how many to get. Stormborn
There is something about them that i just don't like and I'm not certain what it is . Looks like I'm waiting for book 4 before I take the plunge with 30K. Well one of them has got a blade which wasn't mentioned in the write up. Could be an option with the kit Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/288724-salamander-pyroclast-models/page/2/#findComment-3636397 Share on other sites
Tyrannicide
They almost look overdone (some might even say well done ;)) with all the motifs, but without paint these are gorgeous sculpts. 8/10 in my book. I love those helmets. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/288724-salamander-pyroclast-models/page/2/#findComment-3636503 Share on other sites

SteelPaladin
Everytime FW comes out with a Legion specific kit, I suddenly have an urge to start an army of that Legion... I like the details of this kit, the unique power sword for example, is pretty brutal looking. As usual the paint job is not doing the kit too many favors, I have no doubt these will look better when some of the talented people on the B&C get a hold of them Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/288724-salamander-pyroclast-models/page/2/#findComment-3636644 Share on other sites

Their armour is too bright green, very 40k, darken it up a bit and bingo. Along with the salamander hide being too pale against the bright green and looking like they have been to an Emperors Children convention on how to keep your armour pristine and shiney, even in the midst of a brutal battle Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/288724-salamander-pyroclast-models/page/2/#findComment-3636796 Share on other sites
Emperor's Furor
I think painting them in the black and yellow of their old rogue trader scheme maybe cool. Adra'Melek
Mine will be very dark grey with brass flames and magma lines on the armour. At least that's what they'll start out as. If it looks lame I'll change it. My Forge World order is primed and ready to go (with 10 of these bad boys). Just waiting for confirmation from the commanding officer (the missus).
