Character Series release thoughts

So there have been 2 duel packs release so fair, Abbadon/Loken, and Erebus/Kor Phaeron.

Other than the Primarchs and the legion specific units the only single releases are Khârn and Typhon.

Looking at the lists of characters so far that are mentioned and statted in the 3 Horus Heresy books, does anyone else think that it be a good idea to release the characters in the sets, or at least have an option for it?

For example,

Imperial Fists: Sigismund and Polux

Raven Guard: Maun and Nex

Iron Warriors: Golg and Vhalen

Death Guard: Morturg and Rask

Emperor's Children: Eidolon and Tarvitz

Just a personall thought, enyone else?

Sigismund and Polux will be a double up like Erebus and Kor Phaeron, think that's pretty much guaranteed. As for the rest, Sevatar will be a stand alone much like Khârn and Typhon.

Can't see either of the Iron Warriors making it and it was confirmed somewhere that FW will only go after characters who've featured in novels so thats the Raven Guard, Iron Hands, Death Guard and World Eaters out of the window. Possibly the Alpha Legion depending on who they include. Rylanor can be converted as it is so probably won't see him along with the Salamander Dreadnought.

Tarvitz and Eidolon....not sure. Tarvitz and Lucius would have been more appropriate since they actually faced off like Loken and Abaddon.Maybe Eidolon as a stand alone

I'm a tad disappointed Gabriel Santar didn't get rules tbh (no new stuff for the Previous Legions in book 3) - he was the only notable X Legion character from the BL Heresy series, & seeing as he snuffed it on Isstvan V, he'll never get rules.

Plus a duel set with him Julius Kaesoron on V would have been awesome.

Lucius doesn't have rules though, does he?

Not as yet, maybe he'll get them at some point in the future since I can't see FW putting the 12 Legions out to pasture whilst fresh meat is served up for the remaining 6. It's all but a certainty that the Word Bearers will get revisited during the volume that covers Calth so there's hope.

It was more a case of pointing out what would fit together since Eidolon and Tarvitz might have hated each other but they  didn't lock blades over it

Gulg was technically in the BL books, wasn't he? I was kind of surprised that Forrix wasn't included, seeing as he's First Captain of the IVth Legion. I'm going to assume Emperor's Children will be touched on again sometime soon, they may even do an 'Angel's Exterminatus' side campaign around the time of Calth or whatever. Also, weren't the World Eaters at Calth as well?

Would be more than a little tosh if they didn't make models for any characters that they've created for the Heresy... Otherwise what's the point of FW (THE primary modelling company) making rules for them - I can understand with certain models like Rylanor or the Sallies Dreadnought as both of these either have models or are such easy conversions they're more a kitbash than a conversion, the Infantry characters however are a different thing...

As for Sigismund/Polux I can see Sig by himself tbh. not sure about Polux as I've not read much about him... Could see Sevatar as a loner and perhaps Corswain as a loner for DA...

your primarch snuffed it on isstvan, he got rules :p I wouldn't count anything out completely, the capricious nature of GW as a whole means anything could happen. Ten years ago who'd have thought we'd get 40k sized primarchs. Except for leman russ of course (coz he has one). How long has it taken for them to 40k size imperial knights?

Wise Guinness say, good things come to those who wait

I'd rather have Polux wiht Golg than Sigismund to be honest, because I think that'd make for another cool duel diorama(and because I'd get both anyway to play games set at Phall). However,  I mostly do like the idea of pairing them up.

But seriously, when are we going to get a model for Tarvitz? I've been waiting for quite a while now...

The salamander dreadnought already has a model ;) albeit with a different pilot. There are plans to make Rylanor, though he may be extra bits in the Ec's contemptor.

The point of unreleased models is generally to inspire conversions or fit a mechanic in that the writers like but doesent fit a known character.

Really excited to see what the Alpha legion guys are, hopefully they fit one of my dozen existing officers! ;)

I still live in hope that in one of the future books, we'll see Iron Father Thematica, Iron Wrought. As he actually survived the dropsite, I think there's reason to give him rules a model. That, and I found him to be a much more interesting character than Santar, who was (imo) mind-numbingly bland. I do agree that a dual set between him and Kaesoron would be brilliant though.

There's Sabik Weyland as well. Combined with the Nykona Sharrowkyn of the Raven Guard, I think FW could release a pretty awesome tag-team.

The FW made up characters won't get releases, IIRC. But I'd put money on a Sigismund Polux 2 pack.

Not true. I specifically asked on the Forge World Facebook page, and they told me that there were no plans to limit it to just characters that had appeared in books.

I was more referring to him as the only known prominent member of the X Legion's upper echelons, but I agree, actual known characters would be awesome.
