Tau Counterattack Unit/Tactics?

Hey all,

Long term newbie and just got my first game in over a year in tonight. It was a pretty one sided affair given how rusty I was on the rules and it was my first time playing Tau since their new codex was released, guy I played was a complete bro about me not knowing that the hell I was doing though. So, while the question may be common; are their any good Wolves tips or tricks to take out Farsight Enclave Tau lists? I had a lot of fun playing, but I think being able to dent them next time might make it even more fun.

I'm a fluffy guy, so the fact I had one model left before I was wiped (A Plasmagun Grey Hunter heroically making a last stand on a rock formation vs. 13 hits) made me want to invest in an anti-Tau themed 'elite' unit headed by him. Or something.

I just had a lot of problems fighting 3  Riptides and 4 squads of Crisis Suits at 1500 in a casual game. This was a just for kicks list, so everything was outfitted with burst cannons. So I was downed through sheer weight of numbers when I had to make something like 50+ saves a turn.

I ran with 3 x Grey Hunter squads in Rhinos, 1 x Squad of 10 Sniper Scouts (1ML), 2 x Long Fang Squads (3ML, 2LC), Rune Priest (Div), and 2 Lone Wolf Terminators (TH/SS) to function as distractions. It wasn't an optimal list on my end, even casually, but my cats sabotaged the bases for my Land Speeder Typhoons, so I had to rekajigger my list right before I left to play. Normally, it would be 2 squads of 5 Snipers with ML's instead of one clunky unit and then 2 Typhoons instead of the Lone Wolves.

I know I should probably switch to Drop Pods, and I'm working on it, but even then, I feel like I need some tactical help getting back into the game. The only thing tactics wise I'm not keen on at the moment is Allies. Since I want to hold off a bit on them and focus solely on painting/re-learning my Wolves.

Thanks.

They did come in handy, I wish I could have ran with my original list because it would have allowed 5 more Krak shots a turn if everything was optimal. I'd definitely consider running another ML Long Fang squad if I had spare launchers on hand as well.
When they surrounded me was when I really felt the pinch.

Landspeeder typhoons are good- they get a save if they move, lots of S8 firepower, and take up a FA slot I dont find myself using in DP lists anyways.

Definitely ML toting longfangs, though some lascannons are always a good investment I find.

GHs with double plasma or  double melta are solid investments, as always, and more bodies helps soak the pain.

Tau hate Jaws of the World Wolf. Hate hate hate it. Their low initiative makes them prime targets.

Wolf Scouts with plasma gun and pistols coming in from behind can be a nasty surprise and force them out of the backfield.... though they can get munched by interceptor.
