Iron Father Ferrum
Alpharius and Dorn or Alpharius and Guilliman? Both. Our boys knew how to piss off their big brothers. The Dorn disputes are mentioned in the 3.5 dex, while the IA focuses on the Guilliman arguments. Marshal Rohr
Alpharius and Dorn. 'As time passed, the relationship between the Alpha Legion and its peers soured further. The nature of the Alpha Legion's art of war and their lack of adherence to the commands of other Legions placed over them in the field brought Alpharius and both Roboute Guilliman of the Ultramarines and Mortarion of the Death Guard into conflict on several separate occasions with [indecipherable, maybe incidents] notably occurring both in the aftermath of the Ullanor Campaign and the later Vasalius[?] uprisings. More pointedly Rogal Dorn and the Imperial Fists quickly grew to see the Alpha Legion as "... humorless assassins, not fit to bear the Emperor's [indecipherable, looks like name'", and only the direct intervention of the Emperor himself forestalled blood being shed between the higher ranking officers in an affair of honor...' Kol Saresk
So basically the Alpha Legion were Joseph with the coat of many colors. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/288871-al-fluff-from-book-3/page/8/#findComment-3643290 Share on other sites
Marshal Rohr
Yes, but he would've tricked his brothers into throwing themselves down a well with the dose of 'this doesn't seem possible' given what I've been able to decipher so far. Also of note, the story of Alpharius being found by Horus in the Index Astartes is a lie. AfroCampbell
I still like the idea of Omegon being left on Terra, starting the whole spec ops bent of the legion early on, then Horus finding Alpharius later. kinda sets it up for a bit of a split later on... maybe a storyline about Omegon becoming disenchanted with the lengths to which the Cabal's visions have twisted the legion..... maybe enough to make him think about making secret communications with Malcador... maybe him getting involved in a certain organisation that is operating under wraps at the moment..... Plague Angel
Grey Knights are secretly loyalist Alpha Legion Alpharius replaced Guilliman and wrote the Codex Astartes himself, and all Ultramarines successors are actually AL gene-seed It's endless. I'm going to sit back and pretend that the planet Alpharius landed on as a child would eventually be known as Badab Primaris... Tenebris
Well all the origins mean to me is that somewhere out there is a world with massive hangars for pirate fleets and countless top skilled, devious and ruthless pirates. And no, the Huron pup has nothing to do with that. In the end, does it really matter where the twins were born. Lore states that they came at Horus with a very skilled fleet of space pirates who threatened to savage the Luna Wolves. It is clear that the fleet has some anchor, that those pirates came from somewhere but in the end, they are pirates, they roam around as they will. Kol Saresk
Lore states Alpharius came at Horus, not Alpharius Omegon. And that same lore was "written" by an Inquisitor convicted of heresy, IIRC. Excessus
The only "real" information we have on thew subject of Alpharius Omegon's home is from The Serpent Beneath (p. 433). He had tasted remembrance and come to know the secrets of his gene-sire: early days spent by the twins on their distant homeworld, scheming their way to supremacy; the paradoxical horror of the alien Acuity; the gradual realisation of what would be required of each of them in the years still to come... Tenebris
I wonder if the HH AL tactics mean that I will have to mount my Tactical Squads in Rhinos to play a fluffy Alpha Legion army. Sure it goes with the theme, but I have never considered the Alpha Legion as a massively mechanized army. Excessus
No, it's been answered by FW. You can take blobs if you want, you just need to grab the "infiltration" trait for them to play. Where is this answer? This is good. Hi, Thank you for your email. If you use the Rite of War - The Coils of the Hydra, then if the squad doesn't have a dedicated transport, it requires the infiltrate special rule. So, you then need to choose Infiltrate from Mutable Tactics. You also need to note that this mutable tactic applies to all units in the detachment with the Legiones Astartes (Alpha Legion) special rule. With regards to any Alpha Legion upgrades, you will just have to wait and see. Ifthere is anything further we can do to assist you, or if you have any queries about the information we have requested or provided, please telephone us. Brother-Kezek
Could The Emperor see into the future to a certain point? Maybe he looked in on the future of a Primarch, saw how they were most likely to turn out, and pushed the marines made from that Primarch's genes in that direction. Daemon2027
Excessus, I asked on their FB page a few months ago about shoulder pads, etched brass, and decals and they said probably in May.
