Horus Heresy Imperial Fist Tactics ideas?

So I found a brief summery of legion tactics here http://1d4chan.org/wiki/Warhammer_40,000/6th_Edition_Tactics/Space_Marine_Legion_List_(30k)#VII_Legion:_Imperial_Fists

I know 1d4chan but still the Dorn legion rules is freaking awesome! +1 bs for bolters and Tank hunter on support squads, along with stuborn in terrain...

My wheels are turning and I already thought of an awesome kind of list using the Pride of the legion RoW. have some DSing terminator squads take objectives while two squads of Legion Tacitcal squads sit behind an aegis with at least one Lascannon tank hunter squad. I would add a Master of Signals to give them +1 BS for lascannons, and crack open any tanks before putting a lot of dakka into them. while also having some thudd guns or something in the back ground.

At least that's my plan. All looks good on paper. But paper is a flimsy thing that can't hold a lot of people on it.

I don't know how much this would cost money wise, and I don't know how many points that would be.

Right now I'm planning on 20x Breachers, 20x Warders, 40x Tactical Legionaries to make the most of the BS 5 bolter rules. The warders will have a 50:50 axe to bolter ratio to make assaulting them a nasty prospect for opponents with the +1 toughness and potential shield charge. The Tacticals will form a second grouping spearheaded by 3 Contemptors, and the main assault force will be 20 cataphractii all with shields and power weapons following 10 Templars with combat shields. 2 Sicarans and 3 predators will provide tons of mid range armor protection. Only weakness I see at the moment is anti-air, and I'm looking for options to fix that.

For anti-air, you've got Storm Eagles, Storm Raptors, Primaris-Lightnings, Whirlwind Hyperios' and Heavy Support Squads with flakk missile launchers (those exist in 30k, right? I seem to remember seeing them, but don't have the book with me ATM).

Since you've filled-up your HS slots, perhaps go with a/multiple flyer(s)?

With all this awesome fluff and cool previews on the VII Legion's rules and minis, It's very hard to restrain my old love for those yellow bastards.

And I love your idea for an army Marshal2 Crusaders. Breacher marines are amazing.

I am pretty sure after my VI force have been built then I will built a force around Polux and his company during Phall (Just read The Crimson Fist again last night). This way I get to have a force that was at Terra. Yay!

for the quick mock up list I wrote, I have x2 10 man veteran squads in rhinos (2 w/ Webbed heavy bolters,) with the sniper rule, and 1 x10 man veteran squad in a rhino (x2 heavy flamers) with outflank. I also Have a 20 man tactical squad behind an aegis line! now, is that enough men or should I add another tactical squad? and are lascannon heavy support teams too expensive to be used properly?

WS 5, artifice armour power weapon. Furious charge, 2A a piece. Champion has an extra wound. Quite nice to be honest - a nice variation on veteran squads. I've always been put off Command Squads as you can only field 5 - with these dudes you can make a slicing dicing bodyguard.

So honour guard with WS5 and no bolter essentially.

Oh we didn't! =D

Looking at the list I made using battle scribe's flawed system, I had a small list I made

Warlord: Preator w/ Paragon blade, artificer armor and refractor field

             -ROW: pride of legion

HQ: Master of Signals w/ Artificer armor & combi-weapon

Troop 1: Legion Veteran tactical squad (10 man, sergeant w/ artificer armor, Vox, x2 Heavy bolter w/ suspension, Rhino)-295pts

                 -sniper

Troop 2: Legion Veteran tactical squad (10 man, sergeant w/ artificer armor, Vox, x2  Heavy bolter w/ suspension, Rhino)-295pts

                 -sniper

Troop 3: Legion Tactical squad (10 man, sergeant w/ artificer armor, vox, x2 heavy flamers, Rhino) 295pts

                 -Outflank

Troop 4: Legion Tactical squad (20 man, sergeant w/ artificer armor, vox)-325pts? (dunno for sure)

Fortification: Aegis line

pt total=1490

So I have a lot of bolters and boots on the ground. Im worried about them killing all the vet squads though, and I do not have the means to get the points for a heavy support squad. I could also make one Vet squad a recon squad instead for outflank.

for 2,000pts I would try to bring at least one apothecary, 2 heavy weapon squads (1 auto cannons and 1 lascannons) and maybe a few barrage weapons.

Tactics is I set up behind the line and have the 20 man squad hold the ground while the Legion squads rush up and deal with anything up close with sniper rounds. Good idea?

What do you think of Dorn? I think Rampage can accommodate for his low number of attacks quite nicely, and his weapon looks quite good with Shred. For his points cost, worth it, compared to Perturabo?

I haven't looked at it yet , what does Rampage do?

New question: what is the best weapon (besides bolters) for the Imperial Fists to use? especially on Heavy support squads. are heavy bolters better than autocannons now that they have tank hunter? does this mean a Master of Signals is better than the Siege breaker because of the BS buff?

is it best for a vet tactical squad to use the heavy bolters too, or should they use regular special weapons? Lascannons seem a lot better now, and Master of the signals seems so lulzy on bolter squads.

If I were you guys, I'd skip the heavy weapons teams and focus solely on the units buffed by the rite of war. For instance the normally blah breachers gain hammer of wrath on the charge or +1 toughness when charged. Meaning a squad of breachers with two meltaguns behind an aegis line is a very, very tough but to crack and gains a hefty close combat bonus if they counter charge out of cover. Your heavy weapon support can come from much cheaper tanks and Contemptor-Mortis which can be more mobile than a heavy support squad. However a support squad with las cannons and a master of signal in a wall of martyrs weapons point is a nasty prospect for any enemy armor.

Master of signal to hang out with a ten man squad of lascannon heavy support marines sounds awesome!

It's also an egregious waste of points. 10 man missile squads are the optimal loadout for anti-armor. Drop the MOS for a siege breaker, since I would rather the ones that do hit have the ability to reroll failed armor pen rolls over hitting on 2+. Attach flak missiles for literally destruction of men, tanks, and planes.

I don't like the Rite of War, simply because the Breachers are a poor option, and too expensive. And with the abundance of anti infantry in Heresy, a Typhon won't care - it  will just remove the squad. I also don't like the idea of buying a squad just to hide it behind cover in case you get charged. Given that the Breachers are so slow, the enemy can easily bypass tempoRaLly
