Imperial Fists 2k Army Lists

Hi Guys,

I've finally found one of the Legions that has grabbed my attention fully out of the one released and so have made a 2k army list that will be the first Heresy List I collect.

I am wanting to have it more fluffy than having it powerful, and the fluff is as follows:  The Units are part of the 23rd Company, made up of veterans of the Unification Wars, the Commander of the Company feeling that only those who fought on Terra are worthy of being in his company. While his second in command (the Preator in this list) disagrees, he is unable to make his Commander see this and as such the company is often without the heavy tanks that other companies have because they are only allowed to be piloted by people the Commander feels are worthy.

I know it is possibly iffy fluff, but I liked the idea of having a Company made of those kind of veterans lead by someone who looks down on all others. Anyway, for the list!

Preator with Bolter, Paragon Blade (MC), Archerotech Pistol, Digital Weapons and Iron Halo - 202

Phalanx Wardens with 20 Men, Legion Vexilla and Sergeant with Power Weapon and Artificer Armour - 440

Apothecarion Detachment with 3 Individuals - 135

Tactical Squad with 20 Men and Legion Vexilla - 260

Tactical Squad with 20 Men and Legion Vexilla - 260

Tactical Squad with 20 Men and Legion Vexilla - 260

Heavy Support Squad with 5 Men and Lascannons - 235

Heavy Support Squad with 5 Men and Missile Launchers with Flakk - 210

Thoughts and opinions are always welcome!

Interesting idea, lots of infantry, but I feel that your anti tank lacks a fair bit for 2k.

When you consider that the average HH list at 2k may include a Spartan, Contemptor Mortis, maybe a hammer unit for melee, and quite often 1-3 armoured vehicles like Preds and Sicarans'.  Your troops might also get a bit bogged down against units they are unable to harm if they enter into melee.

On the flip side - I don't think anyone would want to see your troops do Fury of the Legion anytime soon on any of their squads!  I'm also glad to see at least one breacher unit there, the Phalanx Wardens - a unit I am looking forward to seeing them model up!

I will say try and up the squad size of lascannons or get another. remember, all your heavy support squads have Tank Hunter.  Blast away at some tanks from afar and get some sweet re-rolls on pen rolls. To do that, maybe drop some guys from the warden squad. Maybe add a master of signals if you could.

Have to be honest, did forget that they got tank hunters. So below is a remake of the list with the comments taken on board.

Preator with Bolter, Paragon Blade (MC), Archerotech Pistol, Digital Weapons and Iron Halo - 202

Centurion as Master of Signals - 85

Phalanx Wardens with 10 Men, Legion Vexilla - 270

Apothecarion Detachment with 3 Individuals - 135

Tactical Squad with 15 Men and Legion Vexilla - 210

Tactical Squad with 15 Men and Legion Vexilla - 210

Tactical Squad with 15 Men and Legion Vexilla - 210

Heavy Support Squad with 5 Men and Lascannons - 235

Heavy Support Squad with 5 Men and Lascannons - 235

Heavy Support Squad with 5 Men and Missile Launchers with Flakk - 210

It is two points over, so I could drop the Bolter from the Preator, but from the fluff side of things I would like to keep it on him.

I was thinking more of equipping your tactical sergeants with meltabombs and/or arti armour with some form of melee weapon like an axe or fist.

I have no idea what the IF legion rules do for you as I haven't read them, so I've no idea if your bolters do super anti-tank damage or what.

Have you considered scrapping one of those lascannon squads that are hideously expensive, and replacing them with Rapier Batteries ?  You can take whatever choice of weaponry you like, consider them as an old school infantry field gun, take two squads of two for a similar price.

yeah tone the Praetor down a little, there is some overkill there that is just wasted points a little. Those points can then help shore up the rest of the list. You may not even need a Praetor, especially as you arent taking a RoW, though he is the only one that can take a Paragon blade.

Maybe have a shake up a little, drop the Praetor, and go with the Onslaught Force Org, which gives you an additional Heavy Support slot as the cost of Fast Attack (which you arent using).
