Boomkapow
Hello everybody, I am starting a traitor legion which will ally with chaos space marines and, eventually, a chaos imperial knight. This will be my army blog as well as where I post questions. The first of these questions follow: -Which chaos army fits best with IG? I like Khorne, but I also just played Blood angels and, therefore, know how bad combat can be in this edition. Also, I like Nurgle's toughness compared to I. Guard's. Feels like it may be a great fit. Here is the first of my minis. The model with the CC Weapon is my Infantry Squad Sergeant and the other two are basic guardsmen. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z384/boomkapow1/crfRpEc3-7uQmIq2dwSZzr1wKayI6ssMaBuIf5pxd0E.jpeg The one farthest to the left is my test model, of which I will redo the skin and the boots. Let me know what you think and keep in mind I will be painting a ton of them. Also I apologize for the horrible quality of the pics. Thanks, Boomkapow Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/288963-boomkapows-traitor-regiment/ Share on other sites
-Volsung-
Oh that's very nicely done, I like it. Reminds me of the Bloodpact without the mask. Keep it up! Also, "Traitor Legion" was a bit misleading. Usually, that refers to the OG traitor space marine legions. I think what you mean is a traitor regiment, or a renegade regiment, which will ally with either a Renegade Space Marine Chapter, or an original Traitor Marine Legion. Judging from the black and red and how nice it looks, might I recommend the Red Corsairs? Red Corsairs are vicious pirates, and perhaps might offer their services as mercenaries to traitor warlords (or the warlords might be fighting for Huron, or might have Chaos Space Marine attached to his regiment as "tactical advisors"). Be wary, if you pick one of the original Traitor Legions as allies, it is very likely that your main army will be serving them, as opposed to them serving you (fluff-wise). Tankenstein_PhD
Volsung: I think you may have misread him. He says his traitor legion will ally with CSMs, so I think he's using "legion" to refer to the Renegade IG formation. That said, IG units are generally "regiments", for the OPs benefit. Beachymike123
i like it a lot. i use zombie parts in one of my infantry squads as a nurglesque squad, which in turn is part of a platoon where each squad is dedicated to a particular god (khorne and nurgle have infantry squads, tzeentch manifests in an all flamer SWS, there's an undivided HWT, but nothing yet for slaanesh, still working on that). almost any aspect of each god is perfectly viable in a mortals of chaos army, although bear in mind they may not be aware of their true nature or purpose (a khornate themed guard army, for example, could lean heavily towards martial honour and facing the enemy face to face, but only the commander would know why they are really there or their purpose; nurgle themed regiments will be overtly corrupt but believe themselves morally superior, determined to destroy the vanity of mortal creatures, not realising they are spreading the corruption of nurgle etc). Volsung is correct to say its worth considering which power armoured allies you want. renegade chapters are more likely to accept and approve of mortal help, while traitor legions will bend them to their own cause. i myself have Iron Warriors, who do control the traitor guard with an iron fist (no pun intended). i've included a picture of my own nurgle infantry squad, as well as the khorne themed one (all members except the HB and GL guys have a knife). apologies for picture quality, these were taken a while ago with an old phone. hope these help as visual guides. looking forward to seeing the army progress Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/288963-boomkapows-traitor-regiment/#findComment-3640607 Share on other sites
Kilofix
Yeeesss .... we need more on the RIGHT side. Looks like they will be a shoe in with the new Crimson Slaughter. In fact, just go ahead and paint red over those Blood Angels icons. Idlem
That's some fine looking heresy you've got! Nothing like mixing in some zombie bits to make a convincing looking traitor guard. Lets get some more close ups! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/288963-boomkapows-traitor-regiment/#findComment-3640658 Share on other sites
Boomkapow
Hello all, Sorry all about the mishap in the thread name but i'm not sure I can change it. If I can, somebody PLEASE let me know. Moving on: Volsung: I'll have to check out the red corsair fluff more. Leinmann: Thanks! I like your renegade legion pics and idea. Great inspiration! Kilofix: I was actually looking at the crimson slaughter CSM. Happy to be on the "right" side again. Idlem: Thanks. I will post some more when I can borrow my wife's nice camera. Thanks for the posts everybody. Can't wait to get more of these puppies done. WarriorFish
You should be able to edit it via the first post, but I've done it for you Boom :) They look very Khorney with the red and axe, I look forward to seeing more. Your bits box is doing a good job on the conversions. Regarding your potential allies, combat may not be the beast it was but your Guard have more than enough fire power to cover the shooty angle - so don't let this hold you back! Boomkapow
Warriorfish: Thanks for editing that for me. I think before I go buying any CSMs, I will do some testing. I am looking at the new Crimson Slaughter. I will be able to go to my local GW store today to check out the codex. Also, painted one more grunt and based all 4 of them. Used the new GW technical paint and love it. Easy Peasy cracked earth look. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z384/boomkapow1/hy1sz7obO-UxOOX4k0M1VD2U7dX7zeAwmwZiQPgTMyo.jpeg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/288963-boomkapows-traitor-regiment/#findComment-3641281 Share on other sites
Kierdale
Looking good. The Agrellan earth looks even better if you give it a Shade wash and drybrush it. Boomkapow
Hey all...been a while since posting but i have some new stuff! A traitor chimera for my squad of veterans I am working on. Will post a picture of the vets when I have them finished. Let me know what you think! Also I am going to drill out the Heavy Stubber's barrel. Just need to find my pin vice. Thanks all. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z384/boomkapow1/chimera_1.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/288963-boomkapows-traitor-regiment/#findComment-3864863 Share on other sites
WarriorFish
Nice work, the colour and star look very good, though won't those spikes get in the way of the turret traversing? :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/288963-boomkapows-traitor-regiment/#findComment-3865087 Share on other sites
Boomkapow
A little, but you can bend the spikes just barely to get the stubber through. Plus, If things are going well I hope I won't have to turn it around :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/288963-boomkapows-traitor-regiment/#findComment-3865290 Share on other sites
WarriorFish
Fortune favours the bold! :P You are, of course, going to do some more tanks like this right? ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/288963-boomkapows-traitor-regiment/#findComment-3865426 Share on other sites
Boomkapow
Haha, funny you mention it Warriorfish! Below is another Chimera I just finished and a Punisher I did a while ago that I forgot to post. Check it out: http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z384/boomkapow1/chimera_two_punisher_one.jpg Let me know what you think! Edit: I just realized after posting that the guy in the Chimera's face looks weird in that picture. It doesn't look like that irl. Strange flash thing i guess :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/288963-boomkapows-traitor-regiment/#findComment-3865594 Share on other sites
scatmandoo
The force looks great. What are the future plans? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/288963-boomkapows-traitor-regiment/#findComment-3865709 Share on other sites
Boomkapow
Going to start painting some more infantry. Have been loving blobs combined with LRs and Mech Vets in Chimeras (This is 1750 mind you). As of right now I have about 40 infantry to paint and 2 tanks. So I'll probably just swap every 10-15 infantry to a tank...Hopefully vets first then blobsmen. scatmandoo
That sounds like a good rounded force. Well done on the painting scheme too. Very disiplined to do that but probably tge most rewarding Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/288963-boomkapows-traitor-regiment/#findComment-3865873 Share on other sites
WarriorFish
You always need a good supply of troopers :) I like the bearded commander, don't forget to drill out the heavy bolters too when you get your equipment set up. Boomkapow
Thanks guys. Hopefully I can stay in the painting mode and get stuff done. And I actually just noticed the HBs barrels yesterday, and that is at the top of my list!
