Rogue Trader Salamanders

Recommended Posts

So I have this Praetor I converted and I've been pondering how to paint him, in the traditional green of the Salamanders or perhaps the rogue trader era scheme of yellow with some sort of black swirly pattern. Below is an example I found on the internet a long with the praetor I converted, I was wondering what you thought.

Yeah that would make it alright then :) Also do you think the flames should be black and in regards to the salamander skins, should they be yellow with black cales, or black with yellow scales, when the armour is yellow with black swirls?

Black Flames would look sweet - kinda like the Tiger Eyes titans from Extermination, which look all kinds of awesome.

To be honest, I'd keep the skins greeny-brown . It shows that its the same Sallies, with a different scheme, and would make a nice contrast to the yellow & black.

I'm just imagining how cool those Pyroclast would look with yellow armour, black flames & brown/green skins.

In terms of the black swirls, you could always slightly alter it so the swirls were more like cracks, would tie in well with the flames & coal imagery that kinda looks a bit like cracks.

For the more intricate characters like Praetors etc what do you think would be the best option for the trim? I don't want to keep them black since I want the black swirls on the armour to "pop". I was thinking maybe a brown based bronze or something?

Bronze would definitely suit - basically, I'd stick to the cannon Legion colours as much as you can outside the yellow / black plate - it'll help people realize its the sallies, and the colours from both schemes seem to go together really well
