LSS helicopter conversion

Recommended Posts

hi guys im looking for some advice with my new project, im doing a new conversion.

AFAIK its not been done before, the closest i can find is the stormtalon helo conversion.

heres what i have so far

ive hollowed out the engine pod attachments, which leaves a nice little hobbit hole

my question i do i go with the round door, or try to square it off, it should be easy to put some plasticard flooring in?

going forward im going to put a little stool on one side  at the back and have a scout sitting inside. for close up inspections

im also going to add some rotary blades (of course) and a tail blade, i may need to increase to height of the tail first.

the front mounted gun will be replaced with a two pronged landing gear (and one on the underside of the tail) and the guns will be mounted in what is currently the front air intakes

sorryfor the pics, took them on tablet, which rotated them, i turned them on photobucket, but it didnt show when i posted them..

i hate technology

A good start Can not give any advice but I can cheer you on. Doing anymore Scouts?

Yes, but as to whether or not im contuining with the MK2/3 kind or starting a newer slimline blackops version i cannot say.. it depends on my next purchase and conversions, which hopefully will run alongside this one.. as i need to put scouts in this bad boy.

i do appreciate the cheers from the sidelines though mate, much obliged

I think I'd go with round doors, perhaps using the ones similar to older Rhino kits (if they fit) smile.png The hole made in the ST looks very smooth. Must have been a bit...tricky getting it done without fething the model up! blink.png

It'll be cool to see it in the plastic happy.png

Yeah it took some doing, the first one got some scrapes, but I got the hang of it quickly. Took about an hour for each side

Theres still alot that needs doing though, got to buy some lss scouts, a nice scenic base and some bits for the conversions, fingers crossed ill have it done

ive made some small progress today.

i cant find any multi-meltas yet, but heavy flamers will do for my test model.

to keep the slimline effect ive replaced the air intakes with weapon systems, one each side.. its wonky here, as you can see by the elastic band im not gluing anything until im sure about it all.

i was considering replacing the underslung weapon system (bulky much), with a landing gear of some sort, but i fear its too visible and high up, so im probably going to set the skates further down on the main body and put the cerberus launchers under the front

C+C welcome

I love that pic every time I see it. I'm going to do a "little bird" with an Arvus for my Elysians. Seems like a natural to me.

Sorry for the sidetrack. This is tough for me because I really don't like the looks of the original model. However, that being said, I think you could make this into an interesting helicopter. Those big holes in the back would suffice for a crew exit point, but I think you want to square them up a bit from an aesthetics perspective.
