Long Fangs - Plasma or Lasma?

Haven't ran the wolves since 5th, but I was facing so many deepstriking grey knights and daemons, I built two squads of long fangs.  One with 3x ML, 2x LC and another 3x Heavy Bolter and 2x Plasma canon.  It works great because my opponents always rushed toward the ML/LC squad and the second squad was there to mop them up in their tight little deep strike blob.

That is usually what I do, have a squad that is built to kill infantry and another squad to kill vehicles.  Usually will run an extra las-cannon in the heavy bolter/plasma cannon squad in case that squad needs to deal with something outside of infantry.  Then I put the anti-infantry squad in a razorback with assault cannons and drive them around to mow down anything.

how do you deal with the fact that the heavy bolters can only fire snap shots on the turn they exit the razorback and plasma cannons cannot shoot at all? Wouldn't 6 grey hunters in a razorback be cheaper if you only wanted to use the assault cannons?

The Multi-melta is from my standpoint a waste, I ran one for over a year and it never killed anything.  It just did not have the range to kill anything and was usually picked off before anything got close.

It has been my position for very many years that Multi-meltas are largely a waste on immobile platforms (like Long Fangs).  The 12" effective range (for the actual anti-tank armour penetration bonus) is far too short to bring to bare without mobility.  They are terrific weapons on mobile platforms like Assault Bikes and Land Raiders, or even Dreadnoughts deploying by by Drop Pod, but I would never dream of bothering to put a weapon like that on a stationary unit.

I know it doesn't have the longest range, but I really liked playing with two dedicated Long Fang packs. One long range one short, in the short I have 3 heavy bolters supported by 2 plasma cannons. It doesn't have the 48" stretch of MLs or LCs, but I find that outfit to be very destructive and versatile.

I'm this close to pulling the trigger on a pair of javelin attack speeders for my redmaw great company. Multi melts and CML (or TLLC) with outflank? Fun!

I like the experimental rules and options, but not the model itself, or model cost. Love their Tempest model, though.
