Another 'Help me choose a Legion' thread

Recommended Posts

So, yeah. Does what it says on the tin really. I've been having quite the conundrum, and I would call upon the good people of the B&C to help me. After much deliberation, I've narrowed it down to the following choices.

Sons of Horus- Specifically a force lead by Horus and Loken, probably in Luna Wolves colours

Salamanders- I've always had a soft spot for Sallies

Iron Hands- See above, plus the models are sweet.

World Eaters

Death Guard

So, sell them to me!

Luna Wolves are always awesome. Especially what with that great (who is he? lillosser?) model of Horus in the white and gold in the Hall of Honor subforum. I say go for that.

Otherwise, channel the bromancy and go for the Salamanders.

Can do Salamanders allied with Iron hands or vice versa to get the best of both worlds ;) can theme it around survivors of the massacre.

Failing that do Luna Wolves, I don't see many out there and it's an interesting prospect, but doesn't exactly tie back into the heresy games.

Ooh, you know what. With Extermination providing some revelation on the dynamics between the Luna Wolves under Horus and the XIX Legion before Corax's discovery, that would be an awesome allied force. Go Luna Wolves and ally a Raven Guard force, using them as the Primarch's bodyguards and hit squads.

I'll let IHF do the talking

well, we are the nastiest Loyalist Legion, get special access to some of the most esoteric & powerful weapons the Imperuim possesses, shove bits of metal in ourselves because cloning tissue would take too long and there's killing to be done, enact utterly brutal shock attacks, care not for the collateral damage done to other allied forces, have the closest relationship with the Mechanicum, have a huge reserve of servitors & battle-automata, have a Primarch who designed cataphractii armour & the sicarian, are used as shock troops by other Legions, consist of Clans which are happy to compete & function entirely independently and our dad used to lead younger Primarchs to war.

Oh, and did I mention we're the most tank-heavy Legion out there?

There's really only one question you need to answer Jasp:

I read in a different thread like this a few days ago, that you should just flip a coin, but don't look at what it is. When the coin is in the air you'll know which one you want. I don't know if this works but it's worth a try!

If it was up to me though, I would chose (Iron Warriors...) ahem sorry. I would chose Luna Wolves, that sounds pretty awesome and it seemed like you were really into the idea!

Whatever you chose, good luck and don't forget to make a project log so we can see all of your awesome progress!

Sounds like you made up your mind when you wrote the post.

Luna Wolves.

You wrote about them first, you wrote most about them, you even mentioned specific characters and more specifically, about making them in early pre-heresy colours so as to make them loyalist and use both two unique special characters which both already have models you obviously like.

Otherwise, I'd sell you any of the remaining four for different reasons.  If it's just about painting colours differently, just paint some units in the various legion colours in accordance to the style of combat (assault troops in WE, flamers in Sallies, heavy vehicles or troops in DG, breachers in IH), keeping the HQ, legion rules and the units you like from Luna Wolves in their colours.

As an alternative - decide when you want to set your army, by that I mean early crusade, pre/post Istvaan, and siege of terra for examples. Most of these battles are defined by certain legions/characters. Or do as I did and pick a legion that seems to be represented less.

From your options - I'd go for Salamanders or early-crusade Luna Wolves.
