TemujinZero
The aim of this list is to represent a characterful Alpha Legion ambush led by the Primarch himself. It's designed to be an (almost) all infiltrating force that can deliver a nasty first turn strike without being too cheesy. Many of the units are built to take out power armour cost effectively at infiltration range, potentially leaving the enemy without key scoring units. I've also added some options for dealing with terminators or heavy vehicles, but the main focus is on dealing lots of early damage to the softer units so that the more heavily armoured units can be overwhelmed later. There are definitely some other builds that would be very nasty in an all infiltrating force (maxing out on tactical and heavy support, and rapier platforms), but I tried to be a bit restrained and I'm more interested in a thematic force. Rite of War: Pride of the Legion Alpharius 415 Master of Signals 85 Master of Signals 85 Terminators (5), Banestrike rounds, 5 Combi-plasmas, 3 Power Fists, Chainfist 255 Terminators (5), Banestrike rounds, 5 Combi-plasmas, 3 Power Fists, Chainfist 255 Veteran Tactical Squad (10), Banestrike rounds, Fearless 220 Veteran Tactical Squad (10), Banestrike rounds, Fearless 220 Tactical Support Squad (5), Plasma guns 175 Headhunter Kill Team (10) 300 Lernaean Terminators (5), Conversion beamer 250 Heavy Support Squad (10), Volkite Culverins 335 Sicaran Battle Tank, Armoured Ceramite, Lascannon Sponsons 195 Sicaran Venator, Armoured Ceramite 210 Total 3000 Tactics could be pretty adaptable thanks to the Alpha Legion trait, but generally I'd infiltrate as close as possible, hope for turn 1 with a little help from Alpharius, deploy the Primarch openly so he gives out preferred enemy immediately, then let rip and hope I can deal with whatever is left standing. The tanks are there to cover some of the threats that the army might otherwise struggle with (and because they're cool). Infiltrating rapiers would be more effective, but I don't feel that they fit the theme of the army. ImpiousSmart
I've been waiting excitedly for the first AL lists to appear. That's a lot of bodies, I like it. Do you need a praetor to take a Rite of War, or does Alpharius cover it? Fearless seems like the right choice for AL vets - Alpharius and the Legion rules give them so much else. AlphariusOmegon108
Very nice looking list! I only have the feeling that you don't have enough ranged Anti-tank! How is your meta? Maybe you don't need any Anti-tank in your meta??? UltraCaptain
I would perhaps downgrade the terminators a bit to normal power weapons (axes), I think it is overkill against the majority of units. Furthermore preferred enemy is a trumph usr that will probably make you beat nearly any dedicated cc unit on otherwise equal numbers. From my own 3000pt list i can fear this list by quite a margin. If you go first it will certainly be troublesome. But if I go first I would obliterate your two tanks in the first round of shooting, and you would be unable to harm armour 14 and 15 fortification (iron warrior) by anything than close combat. So I would probably find points for meltabombs (armourbane in melee) to keep the threat up for all tanks on even power armoured units. You can also argue that one MoS is enough, I personally try to minimize HQ in legions. AfroCampbell
i suggest maybe thinking of heavy bolters in the Vet squads also, at the cost of maybe downgrading some of those power fists on the termies. also do combi meltas cost the same as combi plasmas? if so could do one squad of each to avoid the aforementioned potential destruction of your anti-tank ability.
