LordReaper
So i'm thinking of getting into 30k (or at least making a 40k pre heresy army) and I'm going for either (at the moment) Night Lords or Raven Guard. This list is for larger games that I'll be able to use LoW in, and can be reduced in points pretty easily For a Night Lords army list i'd go with: Lords of War: Konrad Curze (duh he's batman for god's sake) HQ: Sevatar, Moritat with dual plasmas Troops: Terror Squad- 285 10x marines10x Volkite Chargers Drop pod as dedicated transport (or just let them Infiltrate) Terror Squad-255 10x marines 8x Volkite Chargers 1x Heavy Chainblade 1x Rotor Cannon Terror Squad- 255 10x marines 6x Heavy Chainblades 3x Volkite Chargers1x Nostraman Chainglaive Assault Squad-52520x marines4x Nostraman chainglaives 1x Pair of Lightning Claws sergeant has melta bombs Tactical Squad-270 20x marines 1x Combi-weapon Nuncio Vox Elites: Terminator Squad-2405x Terminators Cataphractii armour 1x Plasma Blaster 5x Power Fists Sergeant has a grenade harness Teleportation Transponder Destroyer Squad-350 10x marines 10 melta bombs 1x missile launcher 1 plasma pistol 3x phospex bombs sergeant has power weapon Contemptor Dreadnought - 225 Kheres Assault Cannon Plasma Blaster Carapace mounted Havoc Launcher Fast Attack Night Raptor Squad-380 10x marines 10x Nostraman Chainglaives 2x Flamers 1x Hand Flamer Outrider Squad-390 10x marines 2x plasma guns 3x power weapons 1x hand flamer Storm eagle-255 missile launcher lascannons Heavy Support: Sicarian Battle Tank-175 lascannons on sponsons So this is for larger games, but can be scaled down pretty easily. I'm thinking that the Terror Squads will go around tearing up the other army from pretty much everywhere while the Night Raptors and Assault Marines charge down the middle with the termies and Contemptor. The Destroyer Squad will just soften targets up with rad missiles and phospex, the Outriders and Storm Eagle just turn up and wreck everything, and the Tactical Squad and Sicarian will just hold the objectives that everyone else has punched through. I'm thinking of adding either Jetbikes or a Tarantula Gun to this list, and maybe some seekers or veterans. Night Fighting will just add to the protection of pretty much everything, and doing a STEHL REHN will be awesome. Add to that Curze being on the field to just tear everything up and make the entire army scary, its going to be fun working with this. Now all I need to do is get rich quickly... (oh any thoughts/tactical ideas and whatnot. I don't really know how to play them and haven't gotten round to experimenting with the rules. Oh and when the Raven Guard rules are available i'll take a look at them too, but for now Ave Dominus Nox) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289270-night-lords-or-raven-guard/ Share on other sites

Stormborn
Why not combine with someone else and do both, better still do all 18. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289270-night-lords-or-raven-guard/#findComment-3647780 Share on other sites
LordReaper
the only problem with going Raven Guard is i have no idea what Legiones Astartes special rules they use. Plus AL use more spy like tactics then RG or NL, who are more direct Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289270-night-lords-or-raven-guard/#findComment-3649848 Share on other sites
Conn Eremon
I'd say go for the Night Lords. You seem more familiar with them, you already have a list planned out. Start with the Scary Eights first, and go for the Poe Bros later if you have an interest in running a second or allied army. LordReaper
yeah but I don't really want to pay 80-90 dollars just to get rules for two units and some characters Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289270-night-lords-or-raven-guard/#findComment-3650180 Share on other sites
