Hi Guys,

 

What are the rules about utilizing the Stormwing formation?

 

Does it have to be an allied detachment of Codex:Space Marines, needing a HQ and Troops? Or can I just run it on its own alongside a wolves army?

You can take it as many times as you have points for, as long as it's with a force marines would ally with (in your example wolves)

 

You just pay the points listed for the two talons and raven, and it counts as a seperate detachment, Doesn't take any FOC, don't need anything else. Done.

 

Oh and yes you can start with some infantry held in reserve in the raven, that goes towards your reserves limit obviously.

I thought you could only put infantry in it if you were playing C:SM, cant remember where i saw that, but sure i read that somewhere

It says that "units from the C: SM codex that are included in the army may begin play embarked upon it and can embark during the game"

 

Which implies to me that Vlka can't start inside it sadly. It may even mean we can't get on during the game.

That's the way I read it so did not give it any more consideration. To many points for to little return. For those pts & that kinda of money, just get a Storm Eagle or Fire Raptor & be done with it. A pity though.
