TDA patterns

I'm a personal fan of the standard Indomitus Terminator suits, I think they look the most iconic. Tartarus pattern is cool, but I just prefer the look of the "regular" Termies.

For 30k purposes, though, at what point did the Indomitus really start seeing use? Since Chaos Terminators have the same basic shape to them, some of them probably date to the Heresy, right? Cataphractii pattern has its own rules, so WYSIWYG suggests you use Cataphractii models when a unit is called out as having them. But for non-Cataphractii Legion units in TDA, does anything suggest against painting "modern" Terminators in their Legion colors?

Nope, use Indomitus if you want.  They share the same rules as Tartaros and Saturnine, as mentioned on page 237 of Massacre.  The biggest concern is just making sure you model them right.  Some of the iconography (like the Crux Terminatus) weren't used, and you'd need to swap storm bolters for combibolters, find the appropriate special weapons if you're going to use them, etc (no Assault Cannons or CMLs in general use for terminators in 30k).

The Indomitus was developed by Ferrus Manus, but I don't think it we have a specific date.

Here's what it looked like at the time. Notes: the scaled shoulder armour style is probably due to these being Gorgon Terminators. Also, notice how much their helmets resemble the one from Tyberos, the Charcharodons Chapter Master...nudge nudge.

So a few straighter lines and no separate kneeguards (though that might be optional), nothing too different from the 40K Indomitus.

We can intuit the Iron Hands iconography, though.

Those look fabulous, honestly. The helmets have good balance of the iconic Terminator look I like with the Horus Heresy aesthetic.

Iron Hands never seemed so tempting before, weird.

At least I can run them as Alpha Legion converts.

@Xwing: they might call it something non-Indomitus, and the rules suggest there's something different under the 'bonnet', but its design is full of similarities with the 40K Terminators. With Ferrus being the creator of the Indomitus prototype, I don't think that leaves any doubt this is either an initial version, a later one or a side project that's heavily influenced by it.

@Plague Angel: Aye, they do look great, though a bit wide-legged :D

Those are gorgon terminators.

They used a completely different type of terminator suit, developed FROM the indomitus pattern.

It's actually a prototype, based on the Indomitus-Pattern TDA. So it's still Indomitus, just modified - the size/shape is still the same.
