Prodigal Son of Magnus
What are the ranks of the Custodes? I know there's the normal grunt Custodes and the Captsin General who is the overall commander but are there any other ranks? SFH
In The First Heretic, the Custodes explained that it is not in their nature to give difference to any but the Emperor. As a result, I'm not sure that rank and hierarchy are as important as they are with the Space Marines. I do imagine that one major difference among the Custodes is those who are designated Companions, Custodes who are bound to the personal protection of the Emperor, instead of just manning guard posts at the Imperial Palace. b1soul
There are "circles". I believe some custodes are part of "the First Circle". There are also the elite Companions, who are probably a segment of the First Circle. That's just my guess Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289524-custodes-ranks/#findComment-3651962 Share on other sites
Kais Klip
It could be as simple as whoever still hasn’t finished saying their name upon meeting is deferred to by the other. Demus Ragnok
The obe that seemed to have seniority in TFH was titled Occuli Imperator. I wonder if maybe was just for that mission though. Honda
I suspect FW might add some illumination on this. It might be kind of nice to hear if A-D-B had any thoughts on rank as well. SteelPaladin
I really can't wait to see what FW has in store for the Custodes. Sisters of Silence too. There are a few ranks mentioned in Hands of the Emperor by Rob Sanders. Captain-General and Chief Custodian of the Emperor of Mankind (Valdor) Shield-Captain Sergeant-at-arms There are other names mentioned, not sure if they are separate ranks, or just titles. Sentinel-Securitas Master of the Watch Ares Guard (Seem to be the personal guard of Valdor) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289524-custodes-ranks/#findComment-3652861 Share on other sites
talos402000
The rank High Sentinel was also mentioned. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289524-custodes-ranks/#findComment-3652979 Share on other sites
depthcharge12
Whoever has the most names given to them at the time :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289524-custodes-ranks/#findComment-3652980 Share on other sites
Inquisitor Kravin
The obe that seemed to have seniority in TFH was titled Occuli Imperator. I wonder if maybe was just for that mission though. Since Occuli Imperator means Eye of the Emperor I assumed that it was a designation for that particular mission, to make a point to the XVII that they were under scrutiny. Balthamal
The only thing concrete I've read came from Blood Games where Amon Tauromechian is described as part of the First Circle. It's not a stretch to imagine the Companions were drawn from this elite level. Between themselves you'd think that they would show deference to those with longer names than themselves, hence Valdor standing at the top of the tree Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289524-custodes-ranks/#findComment-3653605 Share on other sites
