Jolemai
Over in the Tactica forum, there's a lot of concern about the potential 50 man Conscript bubble wrap which is Fearless (Priest) and has access to Divination (Primaris). We're probably best equipped to deal with blobs and even though they are expensive for us, a Whirlwind may come in handy.
Chaplain Admetus
And that unit's not even 300 points. Ridiculous... there comes a point where you have to pose the question "how cheap is too cheap?" and I think it's just been answered.

Poor leadership, no benefit from 'fearless' and I seriously doubt a huge blob like that can manage a legal fall back move early game. -Poof!-
Chaplain Admetus
Sadly, there's no legal way to slap it with Terrify on turn 1, being a Malediction. And you can't guarantee getting Terrify, best you can do is get 5 rolls on the telepathy table and play the odds, but that involves taking Meph and a regular librarian. Even if you do Terrify it, you still need to force the morale check (involves killing 13), and they'll likely have a re-roll from a command squad. Plus there's the option of sticking an allied Inquisitor in there for Stubborn Ld 10. Heck, even Commissars. It's the fact that you can take multiples of these things for an absolute pittance in points that worries me. I think Jolemai may not have intended it this way, but the whirlwind could be useful for barrage-sniping the priest, as well as wiping vast swathes of conscripts. knife&fork
If there's a 50 man blob on the table turn 1 it's ripe for fragging. If you want psychic spam you can get 10-11 rolls on telepathy, rerolling all fives and sixes unless you take Mephiston. The odds of getting multiple 'terrify' if you wish are good. You can even one-two mind punch it with a 'FotD' if you mix rulebook and codex powers over several psykers. Also terrify forces an immediate morale check, no need to kill. Can conscripts even take krak grenades? Whirlwinds are not really cost effective but an allied thunderfire will make him think twice about sticking more characters in the unit. One thing we seem to forget is that IG players will have to adjust for other IG players. Large blobs suddenly seem less interesting when there's a familiar battery of wyverns on the other side of the board.
