Fytharin
Infiltrating units are the same as drop pods, they're good if you have the long range fire power to offer covering fire for, otherwise they just get shot and melee'd to pieces first turn. I would need to see what else you were wanting to run to be honest before I could make a comment. Valerian
The answer to your question isn't yes or no, but maybe. It depends. What do you want that unit to do for you? Is the unit organized and equipped in the best way to do that function/task/mission? You might want to read the article at the link in my signature to really understand what I'm getting at. Crobat
... ... I am running 750 games (slowly increasing toward 1000) my army consist of 2 same troop choice: 10 Gray Wolves, Mark, Banner and 2 Plasmas. Mounted in Rhino supported by divination priest in terminator armor and chooser, which holds back behind the aegis defense line and quad gun, with 5x missile launcher long fangs. edit: 99% going against other marines, D.Angels and Chaos Marines (that's why I need that skyfire) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289638-mid-range-wolf-scout-team-yes-or-no/#findComment-3654545 Share on other sites
Squark
Sniper wolf scouts are awkward since the sniper rifles are overpriced- compare codex marine scouts, who get the sniper rifles for 1 point each, or dark angels scouts, who cost 1 point more, but get the sniper rifles free. also, you don't seem to be fighting anything that would really require sniper rifles or a heavy bolter. I'd say what you need right now is a third pack of grey hunters for more scoring presence (the general rule of thumb for scoring units is (points/500 +1), so at 1000 points you want 3 scoring units). Probably best to go melta for these guys in case anyone gets cheeky and brings a land raider. DanPesci
I tend to only run sniper scouts in larger packs, usually 6-7 sniper rifles (this way you have enough shots to be pulling the occasional precision hits/rends), and a heavy weapon. Although more expensive than other sniper scouts, we do get BS4, which can be nice. I also like the heavy bolter approach as it matches the range of the sniper rifles, and adds some extra oomf when fighting light infantry etc..however as squark said, with your meta, its probably not the most effective squad. JCarter
Try equipping the scouts with sniper rifles and bolters. This allows them to provide effective fire whether moving or not and doesn't add to the cost.
