sitnam
Ah, so they got Warded. IMO, unless the older sources are explicately retconned, and this includes the recent Wrath of Iron, then I'd just stick with the older fluff. I know fluff ahouldnt work that way but thats what you get when a company has such terrible quality and IP control. As a fan of the IH and SoB's Its painful seeing this stuff happen; only reason I'm still interested in GW's crap is the awesome fluff I personally like how expansive the HH has become. detail is good imo, and I like a good healthy universe Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289721-is-the-hh-a-little-bit-too-diluted/page/4/#findComment-3658277 Share on other sites
Scribe
According to the Clan Raukan supplement, after Isstvan V, Ferrus Manus turned into a Keeper of Secrets that tries to tempt the Iron Hands to be more mechanical and less emotional. Daemon Ferrus is finally defeated when Not-the-Chapter Master Kadan Stronos cries out to the Iron Hands to embrace their emotions instead of repressing them, which unleashes a anti daemon rainbow magic blast of kindness, laughter, generosity, honesty, loyalty, and friendship. *All of the above is official Games Workshop fluff. Get thee behind me Satan, I deny thee. Wrath of Iron will never ever die. Aegnor
I would have preferred if they'd stuck fairly closely to the "main" story and got that done first, then fleshed out all the bits that were big blanks. The story has definitely lost momentum and become a setting, but IMO it doesn't work as a setting so well because there's the tendency to want to see the legendary events at the Siege and the final duel, AND there's too much foreshadowing going on, which takes you out of the story being told given you're eager to get to that conclusion. Books like Know No Fear and Betrayer are awesome, but I would have been quite happy to read them after we wrapped up the main story. I guess an example to a degree was the old Dragonlance novels. The first two trilogies came first and contained complete story arcs, but there was still scope to write another hundred odd novels expanding on parts of those story arcs or exploring things that never got screen time in the initial stories.
