warp spider
I am interested in posing an imperial knight like this: http://im.tiscali.cz/games/2013/06/11/315950-titanfall-1920x1080.jpg And I was wondering: 1) What model to use for the pilot. The closest I've come is the Elysians from FW, several of them look pretty similar. Problem is, they only come in large units, and they are expensive, although I will get them if necessary, I'd just rather not spend that kind of money for just one model. 2) How to repose the knight so the cockpit is in the appropriate place. The cockpit is on this things 'face', but on the Knight it's on it's back. I could make it look like it's leaning forward, but it might look a bit strange. 3. The atlas titan (shown here) has a 'double' hatch, that opens in two parts. The knight's hatch however has one part: this is fine, until you realise that you need to have the Pilot crouching on the lower section; as far as I'm aware, it's implied the Knights hatch opens 'upwards'. I've thought about sawing the hatch in half, and making two joints. at either end, but getting the join looking right could be tricky. I've got a spare warhound command chair to get the interior detail going. Thanks in advance. Shadow Stalker 19
The knight is meant to have a single hatch. It is quite posable though, so you could have the pilot knelt on the edge of the carapace. Forge world do titan crew you could rework? GodEmperorOfMankind
Have the hatch on the knight hinged at the bottom rather than the top, that way it's open and your crewman can happily crouch on it what are you gonna do for the throne? Just saw the final part regards the command throne I agree the elysians look the closest in style Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289834-titanfall-imperial-knight/#findComment-3658062 Share on other sites
Heru
Filantropolo has posted pics of an open Knight with pilot, in a similar vein to what you are asking about: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289736-knights-and-babes/ Essentially your pilot would take the same place as his. Durus
The only minis I can think of that are actually squatting like that are from urban war (Link1 Link2), but you can tell the minis are slightly dated by now. There are some other kneeling poses in the range with different kinds of armor, that might or might not fit better to Titanfall, but from the picture you posted I'd say Infinity might have something like you are looking for (they have quite a few kneeling minis with fututistic gear), but they are less heroic and closer to true scale (similar to FW minis). Before you buy some Elysians have a look at Anvil Industries Afterlife (closer to heroic scale) and the Maxmini (closer to true scale) troopers. Both are quite a bit cheaper, but they have combat boots, military gear, shoulderpads and kneeling legs too. Last but not least: Why not convert the pilot with some IG heavy weapons legs yourself? Aside from the helmet it doesn't look all that much different in terms of equipment. JasoX
Or just buy titanfall miniature? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289834-titanfall-imperial-knight/#findComment-3658901 Share on other sites
Grotsmasha
Honestly I can't see it being possible with a knight, I just can't. What I can see, however is a GK DreadKnight conversion working. I realise they're not the same bulk as a Knight, but imo it'll be much easier to bulk up the Dreadknight then to open the front of a Knight. reckoning
Had the same thought the first day I played Titanfall. It would take some serious work. Redrandy93
Brother Warp Spider where did you find this art work? It is fantastic! Reminds me of my mech warrior days. Do you know who drew it? http://im.tiscali.cz/games/2013/06/11/315950-titanfall-1920x1080.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289834-titanfall-imperial-knight/#findComment-3661982 Share on other sites
War Angel
That is artwork from XBox ones new game "Titanfall". It came out march 11. I guess it's not that obvious from the OP, I could have sworn he said something about it. CommodusXIII
Striking a balance between the Titanfall artwork and the Imperial Knight kit, I would do the following: Rework the top hatch as either a maintenance hatch or just blend it into the armor with GS, Split the chestpiece of the Knight in half. The lower half, with the chest armor, rotates down. The top half, with the Knight's head, rotates up. I'm not sure how to work this with the cowl and overhanging back armor - perhaps mount the head on a piston assembly, that pushes out and away as the top half rotates up? I hope that makes sense - I'm a complete potato with MS Paint, so I can't demonstrate what I mean. It's not like anyone sees how the head mounts with the current kit, underneath cowl and armor. Replace the stock battlecannon with one of Dreamforge's walker artillery arms - they might be too clean and modern, but you can always add detail back to make it blend with the rest of the model. Assemble without shouder pads, and replace the shin pads with something from the Defiler kit to remove the bellbottom look. Either find an Elysian for cheap on eBay - this is how I generally source my Forge World needs - or go third party. Anvil has already been mentioned, which is my go-to for clean, modern-looking soldiers. That's just my take on it. Maybe some of this will help, maybe it won't. At any rate - good luck! SCOTT_FRANCIS
That knight is awesome, I really like the shoulder mounted auto cannons, I am doing that with mine, I am glad it looks as awesome as I hoped it would. Back on topic, I don't think the Knight would work for your project, I cant see a way of opening the front to get the pilot out. Sorry to be negative.
