Duke Danse Macabre
The army goes well it seems but in a rush for time i have had to resort to a small amount of guard allies to add in the flying support that I need and a few more bodies on the ground. Not all done yet but sporting the same bases as my sisters, what to folks think? http://i414.photobucket.com/albums/pp222/DukeDanseMacambre/IMG_08431.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289853-sisters-of-battle-the-never-ending-plog/page/3/#findComment-3977863 Share on other sites
*Furyou Miko
Ruby visors make me think they need purging as mutants. Not personally a huge fan of edge highlighting to that extreme, but they look pretty good. I do like the meltagunner with his pistol out - is he out of cans? Charlo
It's actually crazy how great the sister minis look after all these years, paintwork looking awesome! Duke Danse Macabre
Maybe less highlighting next time but truth be told on the visors it makes a nice change to blue and the size of them compared to power armour lenses actually let my brush get in. Cheers though, progress on this force is slow. Got another update below, just got to do skin and hair (and plasma pistol) now which i should do this weekend. Text on seals as well no doubt but considering do I want the sword as the regular sword below or power sword?... Also still not sure on the robe white trim along the edges, advice anyone? Another consideration is tarnishing the barrels of the flamers and melta guns. :P And as always, yes i know my camera is a potato... I'm using an iPhone. :P I have attached a picture though of my project/coffee table as well at the bottom... I think my hobby area is expanding more aggressively than what Germany did at present moment. http://i414.photobucket.com/albums/pp222/DukeDanseMacambre/IMG_08501.jpg http://i414.photobucket.com/albums/pp222/DukeDanseMacambre/IMG_08491.jpg http://i414.photobucket.com/albums/pp222/DukeDanseMacambre/IMG_08481.jpg http://i414.photobucket.com/albums/pp222/DukeDanseMacambre/IMG_08471.jpg http://i414.photobucket.com/albums/pp222/DukeDanseMacambre/IMG_08461.jpg http://i414.photobucket.com/albums/pp222/DukeDanseMacambre/IMG_08451.jpg http://i414.photobucket.com/albums/pp222/DukeDanseMacambre/IMG_08441.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289853-sisters-of-battle-the-never-ending-plog/page/3/#findComment-3979021 Share on other sites
vonny
heh, yes, that rapid expansion does tend to happen on my desk as well! On the sword: it's modelled as a power sword (see the electronic thing coming from the crossguard onto the blade?), so personally I would paint it as a power weapon. Of course, if you can't really use another power sword in your army, you're free to paint it normally :) Overall that's some huge progress you are making. Kudo's to you, because I couldn't paint that many at the same time... progress would be so slow it would demotivate me. So... color me impressed! Duke Danse Macabre
Cheers guys. Think you right on the power sword though, think I just wanted someone to confirm what I was thinking. The tournament is in 4 weeks and I still have to finish 3 tanks and the sisters so I'm going to give the girls a break and do some work on the tanks. The troops I can finish this weekend and if I get the tanks done quick I can do some more detail on my troops. :-D Should paint the assassin at some point as well. :-P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289853-sisters-of-battle-the-never-ending-plog/page/3/#findComment-3979294 Share on other sites

Duke Danse Macabre
So still going strong and some solid work done this weekend. Just the Assassin and 3 more tanks to paint, 2 exorcists and a repressor. In the meanwhile however please let me know how you think the force is shaping up and just to clarify i use the little icons to show if I have an act of faith in play on a unit to avoid confusion. There is still a few little bits to do after the tournament, before if i have the time but mainly its text on things like purity seals and scrolls, little extras on the tanks, warping and charing on the flamer and melta barrels, etc. http://i414.photobucket.com/albums/pp222/DukeDanseMacambre/IMG_08921.jpg http://i414.photobucket.com/albums/pp222/DukeDanseMacambre/IMG_08981.jpg http://i414.photobucket.com/albums/pp222/DukeDanseMacambre/IMG_08951.jpg http://i414.photobucket.com/albums/pp222/DukeDanseMacambre/IMG_08971.jpg http://i414.photobucket.com/albums/pp222/DukeDanseMacambre/IMG_08961.jpg http://i414.photobucket.com/albums/pp222/DukeDanseMacambre/IMG_08941.jpg http://i414.photobucket.com/albums/pp222/DukeDanseMacambre/IMG_08931.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289853-sisters-of-battle-the-never-ending-plog/page/3/#findComment-3991395 Share on other sites

Sume
I really like the bases. How did you get the colors for it? I saw they are from Dragonforge. Was curious how you painted them and looked like you added some snow to some? Duke Danse Macabre
Excellent work. Inspired me to start painting again Seems i'm doing something right then. ;) I really like the bases. How did you get the colors for it? I saw they are from Dragonforge. Was curious how you painted them and looked like you added some snow to some? Been away a few days so not had the chance to review your list mate but don't worry, I have not forgot. The Bases are Zandri Dust, Washed in Key Areas with Agrax Earth shade and dry brushed with Terminatus Stone I believe. Got a little more work done, just the 2 Exorcists and the assassin left... Not to worry though, I may have only 13 days left before the tournament but I have Faith that I will succeed, It is the emperors will that I do. http://i414.photobucket.com/albums/pp222/DukeDanseMacambre/IMG_09251.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289853-sisters-of-battle-the-never-ending-plog/page/3/#findComment-3997287 Share on other sites

Duke Danse Macabre
Work is still lumbering on, as it stands trying to keep the momentum going as looks like I'm going through a break up (joy of joys) and I am using only my faith to sustain me. On the plus side though I have swapped the assassin option to a Vindicare over a Callidus and am currently trying to finish my last 2 models, sadly however they are Exorcists and I had no clue quite how much detail was on those models. :P http://i414.photobucket.com/albums/pp222/DukeDanseMacambre/IMG_09341.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289853-sisters-of-battle-the-never-ending-plog/page/3/#findComment-4004107 Share on other sites

Exorcists have Frescoes on their amour plates. You don't really get more "detailed" =P Although the amount of times those are just covered in Gold and Agrax washed..... It really depends if you want to go "deep" enough. Duke Danse Macabre
I'm going the whole 9 yards mate, trying to get a best painted force together for the tournament and still need to rebase my knight before then, its hard going but if i can pull it off then its been worth the effort. I do hate though when people don't bother doing the detail on tanks, its such a shame. Trying to think of text for purity seals, most i can't fit text on but a few are larger, any ideas folks, I am kinda running a little dry atm on inspiration. :P http://i414.photobucket.com/albums/pp222/DukeDanseMacambre/IMG_09371.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289853-sisters-of-battle-the-never-ending-plog/page/3/#findComment-4005123 Share on other sites
march10k
"...and it came to pass that on the forty-third day of the season of Eshir..." you'd be hard-pressed to fit even that much on the big scroll on the front "...for, lo! Fire rained down upon the unbelieving masses, and they were..." for the other one? Duke Danse Macabre
It is going to be hard to fit that on the scroll your right. Odds are I will only write on the scroll on the back of the Organ Pipes and the one on the Gunners Organ Compartment, the other will be small unreadable text as it has the ball and chain blocking the main one which really hampers things. Thinking on the back will be "Faith, Fury, Fire" for one, not sure on the other as of yet... "InThe Emperor We Trust"... "Faith Before Duty"? Such a pain this is. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289853-sisters-of-battle-the-never-ending-plog/page/3/#findComment-4006528 Share on other sites
Duke Danse Macabre
Well one is pretty much done, just a little shading to the tapestries and the crew to go and 3 days left to paint, three and a half if I include the friday morning and afternoon. :P Decided to go light on the text as a paint to paint so much of it but a few well chosen works on the back, next time I may paint it a bit wider however but still looks good. http://i414.photobucket.com/albums/pp222/DukeDanseMacambre/IMG_09411.jpg http://i414.photobucket.com/albums/pp222/DukeDanseMacambre/IMG_09422.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289853-sisters-of-battle-the-never-ending-plog/page/3/#findComment-4007443 Share on other sites
sedibear
You can do it! I'm in a similar rush (3/37 models and 0/1 tank, 12 days to go, but 3 of those are weekends!) I cheated on my scroll text by using stuff left over from my Imperial Knight decal sheet. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289853-sisters-of-battle-the-never-ending-plog/page/3/#findComment-4007913 Share on other sites

Yeah, i painted up the whole thing as well: (Sorry Dakka plug, also very bad picture, zoom in on the left, and WIP for the entire force) http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2014/6/20/623454_sm-1130pts.JPG For some reason i recall the GW-painted one to be just pure gold. But they also picked out detail. So apologies for an incorrect assumption. The painting seems to be coming along nicely! =) One thing (a bit late now though) is the cast lines on the Rhino chimney (Of the Exorcist). I use a 3mm drill to shave off a few mm =P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289853-sisters-of-battle-the-never-ending-plog/page/3/#findComment-4008773 Share on other sites
Duke Danse Macabre
Still looking good though dude, cheers for the encouragement. Still got stacks to do, off tomorrow and friday but travel to the tournament at 6pm friday so realy got to hurry up and I don't want to have to forget about rebasing the knight, I can get away with the basing as is but it would look that much better rebased. Think after this tournament though I will keep the painting push going though, progress has been good. Only got the 1 flyer, 4 characters, 2 Repressors, 2 immolators and 80 Metal sisters left to go... May have to break it up a little with another force before i start haing my life. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289853-sisters-of-battle-the-never-ending-plog/page/3/#findComment-4008920 Share on other sites
